High ceiling with low/flat roof, does it affect insulation

Just saw a house, very nice, especially spacious living room with high ceiling and beams, but from outside, the roof seems low and flat (from the slope), it is probably like some room's roof over the garage. I guess there is no or limited attic space (I should have gone up from garage sky ladder case to take a look). My question is: will it affect insulation if there is no attic space over the living room. Thanks.

As a rule yes, it will make a difference. Best to take a look and be sure what is up there.

if your question is whether the efficiency of the insulation depends on having an attic space over it, the answer is “no.” The issue is simply whether there is insulation and whether it was installed properly.

Oh， thank you all ! I may need to take second look before making an offer. The house has been in market ~180 days, seems seller is firm on price.
