All you need to build a raised bed is some lumber and nails. To get a 4x8 foot raised bed you need three 8-foot long pieces of lumber. Have an employee cut one of the pieces in half at the store. When you get home butt the lumber together and nail them. You don't have to cut anything yourself nor do you have to drill anything. You can get by with 2x6's if the native soil underneath isn't too bad. If you want or need taller beds then get larger lumber such as 2x10 or 2x12, but keep in mind that taller beds are more expensive to fill.

To answer your question, no, I have never used either product you mention.

Yes, I used the Home Depot Wall Blocks. They worked fairly well. My problem was leveling them on an uneven ground. But they work fine. I stained the outside of the wood to make them a little neater for the bed close to the house. These are 2" x 6" pine boards cut by home depot. No nails and no cutting. Except the little decorative 2x2 boards put in the fronts of the blocks to give a little fancier work around the house.
