We are in the midst of getting our fence redone and I am ready to finally start planting back here.

The bed along this back patio if relatively long (35ish ft) and a little less than 3ft deep. I have already planted a couple of arborvitae and 2 Hannah's heart katsuras to give a little more structure, privacy and shade back here (SW facing).

I have been collecting some plants to finish off the space but I want to see if you all have considerations or maybe better ideas.

Originally I was thinking between each tree to have a summer ice Daphne and two Zebra Onyx hygrangeas on either side with something in between each plant to further soften it (example-tree, Hygrangea, guara, dapne, guara, Hygrangea, tree and repeat). Below is a picture of that idea between one section.

Any suggestions of what plant would look great there? I have a whole list of ideas but I can't decide (plant lover problems...right?). I ideally I would want something softer and maybe with a greyish or blueish foliage.

My next question is I have a perogola going in which I've drawn in on the below picture. The total length will be about 30ft long (8 ft high). Any recommendations for that spot and would it be best to plant it inside the fence line (option 1, sun in the morning till grows taller) or outside the fence line (option 2, full sun but bed only 20in depth).
