Kitchen tile help!
Hello- I'm doing a kitchen refresh- adding a 36" Blue Star range and a tile back splash (removing the small granite back splash). I know I want to do a 4x10 or 3x12 subway tile. I like sage and light green tile but my husband worries that it will 1.) be too dark and 2.) become dated very quickly. He wants white subway tile- which we have in all our bathrooms and I find boring for the kitchen. Any ideas of a subway tile that might be a good compromise? We're planning to tile behind the range to the ceiling and under the cabinets all the way around. Our kitchen is small with 1 window over the sink. Our house is a 1914 craftsman.

If the glazes are what you are looking for, you can use them as inspiration images. You may not be able to find the black crazing, but you can use black grout to relate the tile to your counter. This is Somer Tile in Gloucester Sage which is around $15/sf.
At that same price pint there are two Fireclay options to consider. These are Gardenia and Oyster Shell. They can be more expensive in other shapes, but I was delighted to see the 4” hex is still $15/sf. If this is still over budget, give us an idea of what your budget is in $/sf and we can look for more options.
