A magic eraser is a melamine sponge, which is basically a mild abrasive. My guess is that your paint wasn't fully cured, so it was more susceptible to "sanding" with the magic eraser. I'm not sure magic eraser is recommend use on any painted surfaces, but newly painted surfaces are most easily damaged. I'm not sure what you mean by chalky marks, but if you've changed the sheen, you'll need to touch up the paint to get it back.

I can't speak to super paint vs. emerald, as I haven't used either: I prefer Benjamin Moore paint, and have had issues with Sherwin Williams in the past (exterior and furniture). You might try going to your local Sherwin Williams and talking to them about the pros and cons of the two lines.

Magic eraser will take the finish off of any paint, new or old. It works great for removing stubborn stains as long as you are ok with the long term damage. My question is, why do you need Magic eraser on 3 month old cabinets? this is not a cleaner to use on a regular basis, Magic eraser is for stubborn stains on old, cured finishes that have stains that have been there for months or years and couldn’t be cleaned by any other method. Use Dawn dish soap from now on, please! Your cabinets will thank you😀

I had no idea magic erasers were only for hard stains, I thought they were used for everyday marks. I used it to get a red marker stain off a closet door painted with the semi gloss. I have 4 kids and no ones know how the mark got there, ha.

As for the paint, I did talk to Sherman Williams but they are telling what the internet says, just wondering what other peoples experience’s are.

They are essentially sandpaper. Finish is toast, repaint.

That is wild to me about magic erasers! Thanks for the replies. But also so glad I know before our house gets finished, hopefully I can have our painter touch everything up for a descent price when he is painting our upstairs.
