Update porch posts and dormer

What do you think about updating porch posts to a larger square posts and changing the front trim piece to a straight line too? We would also like to lose the decorative trim around the dormer but not sure if we should do horizontal clapboard, leave it plain and use accent color or something else? Would you paint window frames black, keep or lose the grids? Open for color ideas (brick is orange/red and roof is weathered wood brown) and any other suggestions to update. Thanks in advance for sharing your talent and time to offer advice.

If you just paint it all one color, it would be must less noticable.

This is one of my faves for a brick house and yes to beefing up the posts . I never like grids in windows but this pic is kind of a nice way to work with them

I would just paint out the trim. Your posts are quite nice, not skimpy like most that we suggest changing. I like the gentle curve of the header. Two things I would change is the front door and prune the front flanking bushes down about a foot.

Not suggesting a transom, but this style would be good.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting thanks for the suggestions! Would you suggest square or round posts and would you change the header as well?

@houssaon Gorgeous doors thanks for the suggestion! Yes, landscaping is growing wild in the photo. I have to replace two of the posts due to rot but worried maintaining status quo will hurt resale down the road.
