Don't use Behr anything. CABINET COAT is the right material for the cabinets. It has a special formulation. It can be tinted any color. I think this is from Benjamin Moore.

I did watch a video on TikTok where an owner sprayed her granite countertops with white appliance paint and the end product looked quite good.

There are always vinyl backsplash decals that can be placed right over your backsplash.

I am not qualified to make a recommendation; not a professional - and completely in tune to your statement about spending a fortune on samples! ( I went through 10 different grays to settle on one in my bathroom.)

On a strictly amateur level - I see lots of beautiful greenery outside your windows, and I see greens and blues in your art. along with the grays in your living room, so some gray/green tone comes to mind. It may just be my monitor or shadows, but the picture of your dining room looks like the wall behind the buffet is white, but the window wall is a soft pale green or gray that looks appealing. I like the combination of colors in your sandpiper print, and think one of the lightest teal or green shades in it (on the right side, just below the surf) might play well in your kitchen and the rest of the room.

I agree with the suggestion of painting your walls instead of your cabinets. How about Sherwin Williams Sea Salt? This is a super popular color and neutral enough, while still providing a bit of a beachy vibe and a touch of color, but not too bright or jarring. It might tie together the living room and kitchen, go with your tile floor, and be less expensive than painting the cabinets. Before we do any suggesting lets wait and hear what the cabinet refinishing company says in regards to your deposit. Because we can't choose wall color until we know if the cabinets are staying as is or changing color ;-). Deep breaths, slow down and proceed methodically.

In the mean time are your printed chairs in the family room black and white or Navy? Hard to tell from the photo.

Based on your photos I am going to make the assumption you are in FL? You want light and bright and beachy without being kitchy beachy. You like navy and blues and it appears you like blue greens based on your dining room wall and sideboard. You are so much closer to getting your targeted look than you think.

Design Interior South. This is a better picture of the chairs in LR. Teal and gray. I love the fabric but not the chairs. My LR is another space that needs a little tweaking. You jmention the LR and DR walls are designer white and you love it- but your original post says you plan to paint the walls. So now I'm inferring that the kitchen/ family room/ breakfast area is one open area that should flow with one color, but the LR and DR are separate? Is that correct?

If so, since you've already asked about painting the kitchen white, I wonder if you could find a backsplash tile that would "marry" the diffferent shades of a white wall and a creamy cabinet and floor. Maybe a mix with pearl or mother of pearl (which would add beach to the mix too!)....but not sure if that would look too formal along with the countertop?

LD Johnson you are inferring correctly! Living room dining room is one space and kitchen Family room is another space.

I am standing in my family room taking these pictures. The living room is seen in background through the arch.

The kitchen cabinet color is like a tiny splinter under my skin that just annoys me constantly. I think that I really want to knock at least a little bit of the warmth (yellow) out of them. I agree that they go well with the countertop and backsplash but I just don’t like their color. I know it’s a lot of money but I think even a little bit lighter (BM cotton balls or lighter?) would be worth it to me. 😏🤪

Your paint ties into your floor but it is very yellow. A color that isnt yellow would be better and there are many greige colors that would work as well as whites. Again waiting until you get an answer on cabinets. That said I think if you don't change cabinet color the biggest bang for you buck will be bringing in those blues you like into your backsplash. Then I would concentrate on a brighter navy for accent pieces or even light blues. You chairs are dark for all the white furniture you have. I would bring in some color and natural fiber into your rugs and think about new chairs that carry a bit lighter tone

Cotton Balls

Cotton balls contrasted with Behr ultra pure white. Which I think is too white.

I like the Cotton Balls color, and I love the montage of the blues and sandy colors Design Interior South posted above. We once owned a beachfront condo, and those were our colors. Sand and sea! Kinda going with that in the new house we are building in the woods, since I love that color scheme so much (white kitchen cabinets & counters, white and blue/green backsplash, just have to pick a wall paint. I am looking seriously at SW Sea Salt, which is why I mentioned it above, but I have several I'm debating among).

In fact, the tile backsplash we're planning is a possibility in your space too. The edge color is a warm taupe, looks like it might go with your countertop, and the tile color ranges from a pale green-blue-gray to a darker sea blue. I got a sample from Home Depot, and it's gorgeous: Merola Tile Tangier Marine. Might be a bit too busy with your countertop, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

And there's this...simpler but the same general colorway: Daltile Artigiano

Have you tried changing out the temperature of the lights in the kitchen? Are you annoyed by the cabinets equally at all times of day and night? I do like the Cotton Ball color, and it looks nice with the countertop, but I wonder if using it on the base cabinets will just make the floor look more yellow .

I bet that Daltile Artigiano backsplash with undercabinet lighting would be amazing.....

After seeing the photoshopped pics above, I'd do the island urban bronze and change the backsplash. I'd also look into changing the bulbs. We painted our cabs at the lake ourselves, put in new counters and lights. It looked horribly blue and cold, not what I wanted for a lake house at all. On advice from here, I researched and bought new bulbs and it completely changed the look.

Here is just a thought. How about the color that's on your buffet table. It would pull the cooler colors into the kitchen. Then you could change out the kitchen towels the color combinations in your dining room. Beautiful set ups.

Phoenixkiss that is my favorite piece of furniture in my house. It is a beautiful light turquoise. Not sure how I would use that in my kitchen. But eventually maybe kitchen towels and accents.

Yes, that piece of DR furniture caught my eye too. Is it a multi-layer finish, such as a base color with a tinted glaze over it? I fantasized that you could use that kind of finish on the island, but I honestly think keeping the original cabinet color for everything makes the most sense, and then using your budget to fix the cabinet height situation and make the backsplash a color that will make you happy (like that buffet turquoise!). Ceramic and/or glass tiles are great for capturing multiple layers of colors.

Another way to bring color into a kitchen is a floor mat. I used to think they were tacky, but with the advances in digital printing, the products have changed.

Ok friends- here it is - I AM going to have those cabinets refinished. I Do NOT like the color that they are now even though I know they “go with” my countertops and backsplash. I think that if I change wall paint color (which I definitely will) and even backsplash (which I probably won’t) I STILL won’t like the color of the cabinets.

Yes, it is your kitchen, and you should do what makes you happy! I think you got some good ideas here for possible changes (beyond the cabinet painting), so take it all as food for thought and do post photos after the cabinets are painted! I'm currently trying to decide between a myriad of colors for my future kitchen with white cabinets so can give some suggestions then. :-)

I love the white walls in your LR and DR and am wondering if your Decorator’s White is from Benjamin Moore? It looks bright but maybe a little softer than Chantilly Lace or even BM Simply White. I like white but don’t want it to be too stark, and your rooms are very pretty!

I will post a picture of my white cabinet sample up against the walls below, and up against current cabinets. My cabinets will be refinished starting next week and I’ll post pics when done. I am doing all white cabinets including my island because the space is on the smaller side and I’m a chicken. The cabinet white is suppose to be a match to Behr Ultra Pure White.

So... here are the “after” pictures though we are actually still in process- next, walls will be painted a different color and I think the island color needs to be tweaked. I LOVE the white kitchen cabinets though!
I think Revere Pewter might be the right color for the island, or darker. Maybe a dark blue or charcoal. The color on the island now is a behr color called Graceful Gray and it reminds me of a purple elephant 😂...

Your cabinets look great! I agree with painting the island as well. Why not just use the same white as the cabinets? I think navy would look nice too, but I'd avoid gray because of the countertops unless you can get the undertones just right.

The perimeter looks great. I think you're right to think about another color for the island and here is why. The island is a complete match with your backsplash but now they are making your counter clash and your floor tile clash. Floor and counters go and island and backsplash go but all 4 of them don't go together.

Decide what your island color is going to be before the wall color. I am not sure remedying the island is going to be enough to balance out the floor and counter with the backsplash. This isnt unusual,. Cabinet color changes the way other colors show.

Hi, not sure if this will help you, but since we have similar kitchens I thought I’d share since you’re considering a dark island color. The island is painted BM Kendall Charcoal. My cabinets are BM White Dove.

The dark charcoal is a good option. Urbane Bronze is a bit warmer and might be great in your kitchen. The new color is wonderful.
