We recently bought a split level house. The upstairs consists of our dining room, kitchen and master bedroom and the downstairs is the living room and two bedrooms. The rooms in question are the dining room and living room. These two room share a wall the goes from the downstairs, up the foyer and to the dining room directly above the living room. I want to paint the wall in the living room but I'm concerned that any paint job will have to run up the wall in the foyer and then into the dining room. I cannot image how to design the wall so that it flows well between the different rooms. I would really love any suggestions that you may have! I am trying to move toward the Modern Farmhouse look.

Additional note: the living room has a half wall with a ledge that I would like to utilize.
