Unfortunately you need to double your target price for top quality sectionals in fabric for mid-range. At $ 2K to $ 3K you are at the low end of the market and there is nothing really to recommend at that price point.

You can sometimes get lucky and find a good $ 5K to $ 6K sectional marked down considerably as a floor model in a premium store. Good luck in your search.

Floor samples. Some stores such as Norris have their own outlets of floor samples.

Pottery Barn has too many issues, I wouldn’t go with them. I think we all get pulled in with their decorating style!

A store like Raymour and Flanagan has your price range.

IMO a sofa and 2 chairs would be a huge improvemnet in seating compared to a sectional and it all depends on what you want for cover. I would choose leather and from Natuzzi or any other reputable Italian brand if you want something to last for at least 25 yrs. You need to offer more info. BTW a loveseat is next to a sectional the most useless piece of furniture you can buy. Think about comfort , the only time you get comfort is when you get an armrest.

What size sectional are you looking for? Our basic C&B lounger was $2-3000K, so I think you will be looking to double the budget for even middle road true sectional.

If I was going to spend that kind of money, hands down I would go with a two couches. Way more flexible in room arrangements. (Actually, that’s what I DID do. We bought a home with a very large family room and I have two full-size Flexsteel couches.)

Hi, Thanks for your response. I am looking at a fabric rather than leather for a sectional. I would like something that is very comfortable,for laying down or sitting, but looks relatively stylish and not “sloppy”. i do like the look of the more transitional Pottery Barn style Sectionals. Though I am open to a sofa and chairs as well. At this point, I’d like it to last 10-15 years. It’s hard to think about 25 years in the future. Do decorators have a “go to” transitional sectional or brand? Thanks again.

I have dealt with them, and when they say you can speak to one of them, you really can. There are so many options, you wind up with an almost custom piece.

If you were in my store we'd look at Taylor King for sectionals. Will hit the price points and it's well made, in Taylorsville NC. You would be in promotional fabrics rather than their higher end covers. 15 years is pretty optimistic for a time span on a fabric sectional that is in daily use, its not that the frame and springs won't last (they will) its that the cover probably will not. We typically project 8 years for a median lifespan on a fabric cover in a family room environment, then it starts to look a little gamey and it's time to re-upholster. Leather will go 4x the lifespan if taken care of (so appx 32 years). If you are using in an area that doesn't see daily use, then that time frame will increase.

Generally two sofas are less costly and more adaptable to a space than a sectional because the industry builds far more sofas. Think of sofas as milk at the grocery store, and sectionals as chocolate milk. They can charge more for chocolate and they do.

going from less people to more, I 'd go with :

1 sofa two chairs,

2 sofas

2 sofas, 2 chairs

and so on

If you are a "put your feet up family", then get an ottoman made in matching fabric, and if you get two sofas, think of getting two made.

Another thing you can think about is, if this will be used in a family room and will get a lot of wear and tear and popcorn and greasy fingerprints, etc, you might want to think about getting machine washable slip covers made for the sofas, chairs, ottomans.

They won't fit in your home machine, but you can take them to a coin laundry and you can use the big, big machine.

We have a “sactional” from the company,Love Sac. They come in pieces and can be arranged In different ways based on your needs. What I love the most is the cover for every piece can be taken off and washed in the washing machine. They have a great warranty as well. It is pricey but we liked it so much we bought two.
