Find a restaurant supply place and look there. Excellent stainless free standing options that are very sturdy. Here's one from an online place, but I recommend going to look in person. This one is $436.

I decided I don't want a stainless steel sink. Our garage is going to be finished with sheetrock and then DH is putting in a workbench and his metal pegboards. I found this on a blog and like the style but Kohler discontinued it:

So I may be back to having my contractor rip up some of the newly installed sheetrock to add blocking to wall mount the sink.

A sink in a garage is not going to look pristine after "DH [washes] his hands before coming into the house after gardening/woodworking/painting/etc." My dad had one, It's going to get dirty (and probably banged up), and the best thing you can do to keep it looking its best is to make it easy to clean.

Hi, I replaced a sink in my garage about 4 years ago . Cost about 150.00. It's not metal but a composite about 3/8 in thick. I really like it. I bought it on line because they had the size and model I wanted. My faucet is wall mounted and most models are for deck mounted.

I appreciate that you're promoting a more practical approach, wdccruise, but this is going to be our forever house and I don't want to stare at a sink I hate for the next 30+ years until I die (assuming I make it to my 70s/80s). I'm willing to spend $1500 but not on an ugly stainless steel sink unit.

This is what I really like but haven't been able to find it anywhere for sale. Kohler has a sink like this but it's the base that I really like. The Kohler brackets are too ugly and noticeable.

I understand. A bright, white sink is perfect for cleaning paintbrushes.

Wow, wdccruise. Are you the same person who tells folks who want marble counters, even after they admit it's high maintenance, "I understand. Italian marble is perfect for cooks who like to make homemade pasta sauce and drink red wine." Some of us care about function AND form.

If all you care about is function and you like to be preachy about it, then you should hang out in the kitchen forum and tell everyone to stop wasting their time researching custom cabinets and which stone to choose for their counters. Instead, we should all listen to you and put in stainless steel counters and shelving like in commercial kitchens. Who cares if it's brutally ugly?

I am truly sorry your life is so challenging that you like to rude and obnoxious to people on Internet forums who decline to accept your advice.

When we remodeled our basement and laundry room (old house so it's in the basement), we put in a worktable sink we got from a restaurant supply company. It's like this, but we got ours from Costco for less that $1000. It's been a good choice.

I ended up buying the Kohler sink I like and just getting the ugly (and expensive!) brackets. It's still not installed (house isn't finished yet) so no photos. I couldn't find a local metalsmith and the quote I got from an etsy seller was too expensive. So for under $300, I have ugly brackets but if I had been willing to shell out closer to $1,000 (shipping alone was over $100!), I could have had the metalsmith make me the metal stand.

Im in the same boat as you were. Upgrading our garage. which Kohler sink did you get? i‘m trying to decide on cast iron vs fireclay. Such a difference in cost and would like to know which model and if you are hapoy with your decision?

Nancy: I bought a white Kohler Hollister sink and opted for the wall-mount brackets. I had hoped to get a custom made metal stand like the photo I included above in an earlier post. Yet it was too expensive and COVID made it difficult to shop in person. The brackets are ugly. but I find it easy to ignore them when I go in and out of the garage. The sink is huge and lovely, but the drain hole is tiny, so that's one slight drawback. It takes a while to drain if you fill it with water. Overall I'm still happy I chose it as it looks great and has not been stained by anything (yet).
