Can you skip shutters and do a more substantial landscaping to add some plantings with height in those areas...away from the foundation of course but in those visual spaces?

If you have your heart set on shutters, have you considered the same clay colour of your siding? It may blend in and tie it all together. I am on fence as to whether you need them or not. As for the door, I like bright door colours, I’m just lousy at choosing. I like the russet someone else suggested, or maybe a nice brighter shade of hunter green? Beautiful house.

These are all great suggestions. Thank you. We did consider skipping the shutters but are concerned the windows look too small for the expanse of brick. These pics are so helpful. The reddish looks good, but I'm partisl to blues and greens.

Shutters rarely look good on a double window as stated above. For the door: If you like blues and greens, look at dark navy or a dark teal. Those would complement your brick nicely. Maybe someone will photoshop for you. And I would paint all the door trim that color.

I think shutters may not work here: in order to look right, each shutter would have to be as large as the window
it would cover if the shutters were closed. The double windows will require a pair of shutters equal to the width
of the pair of windows, and you may not have enough room between the left front window and the house number
set into the brick. Measure to be sure. The porch pillars must be substantial in girth, at least 6” per side. I would
have the shutters match the window trim. The front door can be almost any color you desire, but I would also add a
couple of planted ceramic pots in a color similar to the door (on the porch or just adjacent to the front steps).

Here is a good color for the front door. I think you should keep the sidelight white, if the siding is dark.

Houssaon The house itself does have board and batten in a color called Hearthstone. The porch will have board and batten in the clay beige color that is on the gables. I was just looking at that Rookwood color, thank you!

I think Rookwood is a great color. Glad you are using the lighter color for the porch.

Instead of shutters, add an ornamental tree out in the yard on the right side of the left window. I would keep the landscaping around the foundation to a minimum and bring the garden out into the yard.

@houssaon.. our builder said ok to no shutters... we asked if we could waIt to decide until the landscaping is in. A tree in that location is a great idea, we have an acre so less lawn the better :).. thnks again
