Not really unless you go with something like the ultra-expensive La Cornue or Aga that can be customized. Stainless steel has been the go-to for durability for a long time. Unless you have virtually an unlimited budget, I imagine that by the time it comes to the end of a build, you wouldn't have wanted to splash out for a custom color unless you really did have a generous budget. Matte white is custom if you are talking about doing all appliances that color. Refrigerators and freezers are still sold in budget brands in matte white, but the stainless are generally considered higher-end. You can get cabinetry panels to cover many of your appliances, all except the stove and microwave usually.

We have a budget 25k for appliances and found the Cafe in matte white is nice change, but not sure what reviews or comments are on these of people who have switched from SS to white feel. I have had stainless for years and sorta getting old. Was hoping that someone with matte white would give their inputs. Again thanks for your replies.

There was a woman who posted her dilemma a few months back about selecting white appliances and being extremely disappointed in them. The white of the appliances clashed with other whites she had in the kitchen. I must admit, from her photos it did look bad. Many of the comments which numbered in the dozens were trying to encourage her in the face of the outcome. I did some searches in the Houzz forum to find that thread and couldn't locate that exact one, but you will find thousands of threads here at Houzz addressing this very issue if you search for "white appliances" and/or "white appliances white cabinets."

We are going with white cabinets with low sheen and the island will be black low sheen. My thought is to put the matte black dishwasher in the island so it doesn’t stand out like white or SS would and to use matte white cafe gas range with bronze and the cafe fridge matte white with bronze. The microwave will be in the pantry. Our range hood, either white wood or rustic aged wood —this is still up in air. Actually it’s all subject to change. Lol. @Aussie Bae we purchased the GE Cafe Matte White appliances. Our kitchen cabinets will be installed in the next few weeks, so I can show you how they look then. The appliances are gorgeous. I was drooling over that gas range in person, but ultimately we choose the Cafe induction cooktop and the double oven. There are definitely posts on here about the matching cabinet pulls to the appliance hardware and matching the cabinet white paint color to the appliances. Our perimeter cabinets will be white and I choose to have them pained by my cabinet maker in a cooler white called Wedding Veil by Benjamin Moore. I think where people get into trouble with the white appliances is when they have creamy or warmer white kitchen cabinets and that is why they don't like the look. I actually brought a piece of my vent hood to Benjamin Moore and attempted to have them color match it. The GE Cafe Matte White tends to lean a little blue and the color that it "matched" with was actually a blue white (I can't remember the name unfortunately).

Rower, can’t wait to see your finished product with these appliances. Thank you for the cabinet color suggestions. This may be a best option than trying to pick out from a pre-finished.

We selected some panel-ready appliances, so our DW has a matte white panel on it that matches our perimeter cabinets. We did purchase a Lacanche range (I'm not suggesting you do this, just sharing what we did) and it has a custom color on it that is a very close match to our cabinets.

I see nothing wrong with selecting matte white appliances, especially if you love them. I do not like stainless steel appliances, so I would not purchase them. I always think you should get what you like assuming it's in your price range. Your house is designed for you, not for some random strangers giving their opinions on the internet. So, if you like matte white, go for it and enjoy!

I'm in the mist of a new build and am also considering white matte appliances. If you haven't already looked - Kitchenaid also has a line of white matte and so does Hestan. All worth a 'window shopping' look. I'm tired of seeing SS everywhere too so was looking for something different.

Can anyone recommend kitchen sink faucets and a pot filler to match the brushed copper handles on the cafe appliances?

I also opted against everything stainless steel in the kitchen. We did the GE Cafe matte black and kept our 5 yr old black dishwasher. Our cabinets are cherry so color matching wasn’t and issue. We did a stainless steel fridge because the appliance people said the black scratched pretty easy. We have littles so they definitely get into the fridge but won’t be touching my stove!

That same appliance store had the matte white GE appliances. They were paired with a gorgeous kelly/evergreen green cabinet and it sure made the white appliances shine like a gem. I loved it! I’ll see if I can find a pic from our visit!
