Welcome to an old house! Two mice might just be a start. Keep trapping, you'll get them under control. Bats are good. I've had worse than those in my old houses. It's a conversation starter with the neighbors.

If you've seen two mice you can guess the population runs to the hundreds. I'd love to have bats! We've been trying to attract them to the yard with no success so far.

And so the adventure begins😁. We’ve been in a circa “1774 Federalish“ for 27 years so don’t let anyone scare you. Yes we get a mouse or two from time to time but we try to be proactive. I try to always keep an eye on foundation for any new openings or disruptions. I’ve never seen any in our living area just lower level and attic.

I also use the plug in pest repellers all over the place. Even a few in our living aRea. some rooms get less use than others so I place them there If we go away for an extended period of time I put a Loud radio on a timer For most of the day to midnight. They like to come in to a quiet house at dusk.

I know this is controversial but I use glue traps. I didn’t like resetting snap traps and just wanted to get rid of them if caught. Some say glue traps are cruel but so is Lyme Disease. You make choices.

I use rat poison, you can get stuff that won’t harm your pets if that is a concern. Mice get into your pantry, under sink cabinets, storage areas, etc. I had them in my kitchen sink cabinet, off-season clothes storage chest, my craft materials, etc. I had to throw out lots of stuff that has mouse droppings and urine. It was disgusting.

I’m always hesitant to use poison. We did it once and we had a mouse die in the between the walls. OMG the smell was unbearable and it lasted almost three months.
