Help Coordinating with Patterned Patio Cushions

I am trying to spruce up my rental balcony on a budget and my mom made me 23" x 23" x 4" cushions in the attached pattern that I'm going to use on a DIY bench/couch frame. The problem I'm having is coordinating it with other items.

There's a small (19" long) bench on Craigslist that I thought about pairing with it, but I can't tell if it will be too overwhelming with the cushion pattern. I am also thinking about getting/making a small rug, and maybe some pillows. Any ideas on colors or patterns?

This is my first time decorating something outdoors and I want it to be fun and cozy, but I'm completely out of my element.

I'm attaching a photo of the cushion fabric, the bench on Craigslist, and a quick look at what I initially thought as a layout for the balcony. Thank you in advance for any advice!

Delightful cushion fabric! Is the bench a steal and nearby for an easy pick up? Will it work within your layout? You could probably spray paint it if it doesn't jive with the cushions (and it doesn't seem to, on my screen - there's no black in the cushion fabric).

I think a gray gingham on a much smaller scale than this would work.

I think the footstool is blue, but it definitely looks black in the Craigslist post. It's listed for $15 and is 15 minutes away, so not too bad, especially since it can work as both a table and extra seating. Seeing the IKEA photos, it's larger than I expected, but that could be a good thing.

I like the idea of a simple pattern like stripes or gingham on the pillows!

Jemma, it's the end of summer - there will be lots of deals on patio furniture. IKEA is a great source. Keep your eye on NextDoor for curb finds.

Start with what you want the space to do. Maybe a box bench where you could store things and two people could sit with a cushion.

Do you want a grill? A table for candles or bar items?
