We have them on all of our exterior doors, and we have a lot of exterior doors bc we have all these glass exterior doors in our family room and breakfast room to our covered porch. I think they are required to stabilize the door bc an 8’ door is too tall to have just one ”locked” area. TBH, I didn’t even know you could get exterior 8’ doors without multi-point locks.

8' tall doors there is zero chance I would use anything but the multi-point locking system. I would also guarantee that for any warranty to be in effect from TT you will have to have the multi-point lock.

Agree with millworkman. Multi-point locks on 8 ft. doors shouldn't be optional. In my experience, tall doors have more tendency for distortion and to not seal correctly as a consequence. A multi-point lock system mitigates that problem.
