I like stripes for chairs. What is her rug?

I would stick with beige, cream, or dark brown for accent chairs, throws or pillows, even with a beige rug. Look for something with texture instead of color. She can get more color the room with artwork and plants.

LilliCraig, I'm sure she will, that's why I included the board of suggestions. I'm guessing that since the sofa was a great deal, she'll be looking for items that coordinate with it and not looking to spend the $$$ to select fabrics and have items recovered. Some of those drapes were from JC Penney. I would select a subtle area rug if required because the pattern is prominent on the sofa.
