I can add a couple of descriptive search words: solid wood, sled base, caned, Danish?, 1960’s.

Reminds me of “this end up” furniture.

1960s through 1980s although there was a restaurant that had something similar in the early 2000s. Only place I ever saw them was at eating or drinking establishments.

These also show Made in Poland and GFM, though Breuer chairs are more modern than yours. Theirs show cane, though, so maybe further investigation might be needed.

Very nice....mid century...probably ash and oak or all ash. The cane is that pre-woven stuff that you insert and finish with a strip of spline. And I advise you to spray the underside of the seats with some water, as it appears to be sagging. Cane dries out and gets brittle....a mixture of glycerin and water will also add flexability.

I think these chairs are made by a Polish furniture company GFM (Gościcińska Fabryka Mebli). That would explain the "GFM" and made in Poland stamp. I cannot find any specifics about that furniture company. Would love to know if anyone else has ever heard of them. I'm curious about what time period these were made in. :)

Here you go, alisprague. It was fun! Really cute chairs. ETA: Plus, I just built on your researched manufacturer’s info. I also saw where 4 chairs went for $2000 in April of this year, though the link is now gone.

Replacing the seat is easy! Remove the old cane....carefully diggign out the old spline without damaging the wood ( that's the hard part) then You buy the cane already woven... and a length of spline. Soak the cane in glycerin and water to soften and using wooden pegs, push it into the groove where the spline was....when all is tight....squirt some glue into the groove and lay in the spline, firming it up with a rubber mallet. Use an exacto knife to cut the ends of the spline to fit closely. I'll bet ther is a youtube video or two. Once you get the old cane out it's a 20 minute job to replace the cane.
