Need help with backsplash

last modified: 6 years ago

My kitchen perimeter cabinets will be SW Alabaster and island is stained shiplap. Countertops are leathered fantasy brown (lighter slab that's more gray with hints of green). My husband and I are leaning towards the MSI greecian white stacked stone veneer for backsplash but I'd like to do something different behind our cooktop that's easier to clean. Edited to add that we like the tumbled/stacked stone look rather than something shiny and we live on a ranch, this is our forever home so I don't care about resale.

Do you think a polished marble mosaic in same white/gray/cream tone as the stacked backsplash would look ok? We'd trim it out with pencil tile and make it more of a feature (I'm thinking it would be pretty but also more functional for cleaning than the stacked stone).

My 2 favorites are below but I don't know if the tiles should be bigger or a completely different color? I don't want the backsplash to be too busy since our countertop does have some movement in it although not near as much as other fantasy brown slabs we looked at. Our hood is going to be painted Alabaster and will be 42 inches wide if that makes a difference.

Here's kitchen (work in process..all perimeter cabinets will be white including side panels...it's half installed right now)

greecian white stacked stone veneer backsplash:

polished marble mosaics I'm considering putting behind cooktop (trimmed out)

#1 pearl basketweave thassos marble mosaic

#2 calacatta thassos marble mosaic

Any other ideas? Thanks in advance for any input!
