Is this rug too plain?

I just got this chenille jute rug from Target for the open floor plan dining area. I'm not wowed by it - would a patterned, more bold rug be too much?
(Please excuse the clutter we are just moving in :) )

Not sure the rug is too plain, but I'm afraid it's way too small. You don't want chairs, when pushed back from the table, to go off the edge of the rug and get caught on the binding. If the rug is new, I bet Target would take it back in exchange for a larger size. Once you're settled in, have a nice centerpiece in a bold color, perhaps a ceramic bowl of lemons or something like that, on the table and let the rug being a "supporting player" in the room...keep the eyes at table top. Congratulations on your new home!

2 things you need color, other is this rug is way to small. Square 8 ft would work or a 8 x 10 try a red print. With black and cream colors.

Personally, I think you could use a lot more color. I see a few red pieces so I would add on to that. How about an indoor /outdoor rug?

I would not use a rug under your table. It is easier to just swiffer the floor then to vacuum the rug and swiffer. If you really want a rug, then go bigger and brighter like Margo C suggested.

I don't mind that is is plain as it appears to have some texture, but it is too small for sure.

It's too small & frankly I don't think you need a rug at all. Considering it's under the dining table you may find you are constantly sweeping under it & in our busy lives think about saving precious time & eliminating some chores.
