Have you considered including grab bars? In both the shower and tub walls?

A bar for sure in shower as the hand held shower valve goes there. Maybe one by the tub too! Good idea

well the bar for the shower valve isn't meant to hold 200+ lbs of a person that grabs on to it. It's meant to hold the wand for the shower.

the other poster was commenting on a grab bar. those have to be secured to a stud in the wall before the tiling goes up.

I've seen them small (12-inch?) in hotels. Sure is easier to use arm muscles instead of just leg muscles to rise out of a tub.

oh well, if Lowes says it's ok, then I guess it's the gospel.

of course you can attach the bars to tile. IF there are studs underneath the tile!

Even in hotels they screw the bars into studs. can you imagine the lawsuits if not???

Irma, what is the bar going to attach to if you just drill screws in the tile? you think if a 200 lb person is falling and grabs the bar, you think that little tile is going to hold them? (not without the stud)

if you want the bars placed in a certain place, then the studs need to go in before tile. Otherwise, you'll find studs every 16" on center.

We just took all that stuff out of this bathroom. Have a nice little bench for shaving the legs, hopefully don’t need the geriatric stuff for a while!!

I love the look of a stand-alone tub and there are beautiful shapes to choose from. A tub with feet is harder to clean around than a flat-bottom tub which sits right on the floor. If the tub doesn’t sit against the wall, it can be harder to get back into the corners with a mop. I would also require a surface on which to have my soap or other bath needs. Free-standing tubs tend to be deeper than a shower-tub combo bathtub, so you may want to have a tub with handles to help you get up and out of the tub. At my age, with old knees, I can’t even try a tub anymore, so I designed a nice roomy shower with a good seat. Pick all your fixtures and finishes in advance.

Hey Red Ryder the vanity came that color. By the time we got going Covid was in full swing so they were sold out of a bunch of stuff. We used this chinese place that had prefab stone. It’s very nice thought soft close, frameless nothing looks too cheap

Hi Demac, she’s doing ok, this is her second! Only 61. But man it does not look fun. So shiplap and trim will be painted BM advance super white I think. Will check when I get home. Wish I would’ve gone a little darker on the floors. Got the quartzite at Chinese place, white abacaus, and everything else at Bedrosians. The marble in the niche is soooo pretty

And I love the shower wall tile and porcelain small tile on the floor too. Shower is ceramic
