I agree on buying used luxury Linda. In 2009 I picked up a use 2004 Infiniti with 38, 000 miles and still get asked if it is new. Yes, the upkeep is much but so far I am just doing maintenance. I do have to get the seat mechanism fix but I do not sit in passenger side so it is not a priority.

Michele-Where did you get it. My last landscaper broke my lamp pole, light and at some point I would love to replace it.

Angela - I'm fortunate that my business partner used to be an auto mechanic. Plus, he really likes driving my car, so he has an incentive to fix it for me.

My car has a problem with the climate control on the driver's side...I always offer to let my partner drive if he wants!

Linda-I have gotten lucky too with a local mechanic that I know and he does all my maintenance and fixing. He put in an old mechanism so that I can move the seats and that is good enough for now. I buy the parts and he fixes it. I take it to Infiniti for oil change and check up then I take it to him to fix it. What doe the Jaguar station wagon looks like.
Angela, posted info on both ideabooks for you, both. :)
Linda, good idea to let him drive then.

Linda, back in the 80's my boss at the design firm that I was working for was made a full partner in the firm. He celebrated by ordering that top of the line 2 door Jaguar XJ with the 12 cylinder engine from an Italian dealer that he fell in love with on one of his many trips to Italy. Drove like a bat out of hell..............6 months later he had to replace those Perelli soft rubber high performance tires at $400 apiece. First year tune up of that powerfully 12 cylinder engine..........$900. Two years later, it was the driver side sealed windshield wiper motor that went out........$1600..........3 months later it was the other sealed windshield wiper motor on the passenger side that went out, almost $2000 for that one...............two weeks later, in his Reserved Partner parking space was a brand new red Vet convertible.

You should look into that light then Angela, think it would be nice there

Guess Candace can't get in or she's still feigning sleep so she can get fired ;)
Ever get back to sleep Robin? Or snag a cute construction guy to help out in basement?

My soundproofing project is taking longer that I expected.
Did you get the bigger piece of insulation yet?
You're going to have to unravel that knot before bedtime tonight or you'll have trouble sleeping :)
Michele, no. I bought two 24x8' sheets and did it in two pieces. That's probably why it took longer. Turned out pretty good I think, you might not be able to see but here it is. Lifted that tv down and put it back all by myself too. Glad I didn't drop it.
Another day, I will change that speaker wire to black so it disappears. But I'm out of energy for today. Still have to clean up the mess I made with the foam and the rock wool insulation. Messy stuff.
Good job kimdee. That looks like a heavy one too, guess all that swinging you do is building up some real upper body strength. Excuse me, all that golf club swinging. Whew, didn't want to shock everyone about your recreational activities ;)
Yeah it's big and heavy... but when I decide I'm doing something, I'm doing it... actually surprised myself getting it up and down without help. Not saying there wasn't a huge face print all over the screen that I had to clean off, but yeah...
@mforr - yes to sleep. I just had a bit of a nap. Still have a bit of a headache but that will hopefully disappear once my tummy stops growling at me.

@kimdee - I'm only a phone call away and I drive a big truck that will fit a large piece of insulation fairly easily.
You go Kimdee, rocking it girl. Robin-did you eat yet.

EZ, you're very disciplined to be doing so much, I applaud your stick-to-it-ive-ness. It awfully hard to get rid of things with some emotional attachment. Most of us give space to such things for way too long. Sometimes a purge in belongings is also a purge of your emotions, best to have a little cry, sniffle and get on with things, you'll feel better afterwards. Clean start is like a rebirth. Starting anew. :)
Robin, sorry about the stinkin' headache but I'm glad you got a little more sleep. Eat something, take something for headache if that doesn't help. Don't need the headache (physical) while you're on shift. Don't keep your baggage with you tonight, don't involve yourself with anyone who wants to bait you. Ohm. Ohm. Ohm. :)

I'm going to talk to a supervisor today to see what my options are. We shall see. Just gonna put my head down and do my job. *sigh*

Ez -- what I used was batts of Roxul rock wool sound insulation, and then a sheet of pink rigid foam insulation, that I covered with a dark grey fabric.

Robin -- Thanks! It's all done now, the two-piece panels I made I think were the way to go in the end, the full sheet might have been harder to install, as it turns out, since nothing was square or plumb in that niche. And I hope that your day has been better today, sorry about the headache.

I need to hit the shower, I have cleaned up my mess, and swept out the garage so I'm covered in a layer of glue, insulation bits, and dust.

Just cal me Itchy and Sneezy.

Just wanted to share photos of my garden before I head out to work. First is cucumbers, watermelon, pumpkins and tomatoes. Second is the green peppers, carrots, peas and corn (strawberries in the containers) and the third is a baby watermelon that I accidentally pulled off the plant. I found two more that I was a bit more gentle with.
It's looking great, Robin... and awwww.... baby watermelon!
I think next year I'll start the watermelon indoors 6 weeks before. Not 100% sure they'll be harvestable before first frost.
Oh, look at the wee thing, it's adorable. :)
Good luck tonight, feel better and try to feel a bit more upbeat, I know, that's sometimes difficult.
Your garden is looking good, that's a lot of healthy eating, yum :)

Just confirmed with my pumpkin growing friend that I actually have a pumpkin too!
@kimdee...U r the bomb for tackling that project! Good job!
Thanks, Jayme -- just hope it helps. If not, it didn't cost much. The long term plan is to do built-ins along that common wall and then I can really beef up the sound proofing behind them. But hopefully this works in the meantime.

Lord, I'm itchy. My brother lied to me about Roxul.

My hubby went to the grocery store today. That store has a really good store brand potato salad which we all like. He usually buys the one pound containers but decided to look at the 3 pound container as usually the larger container is the better deal - the 1 pound containers were $1 each and the 3 pound container was $5

I did some odds and ends yesterday and today...finally took my car in for an oil change, hit a couple garage sales, sorted some stuff at the project house. I was planning to paint the porch floor but decided that a 20% chance of showers was a sufficiently good reason to procrastinate. Also, didn't get the screening put on the frame I made for the storm door insert but I did get the frame put together and it fits so that is progress

I did get the cracked piece of glass in the front door replaced yesterday. In typical old house fashion, nothing is ever as easy as it should be. After I got the old piece out, I had to remove the dried up putty that previous owner used instead of replacing the broken wood molding on the interior side. Then, I had to cut a replacement retainer strip. That required hunting down a piece of molding with a similar profile which then had to be cut down on the table saw and then cut to fit the slot. Of course, then I had to stain that piece to match the door. The interior side is painted so replacing that molding didn't require a refinish but also had to hunt down something similar and then fill in the missing chunks with Redipatch. I find the table saw a bit intimidating so I usually try to get someone else to cut my pieces but I had to cut my own yesterday.

Good girl, better to do those things yourself if you can. You're a big girl and you'll be careful. Never want the men to feel like you're helpless, because you're not. You're very enterprising Linda :)
Where would we be without casters and little felt pads, so much easier.

Go Ez go, lot if work today.
Linda...potato salad, and salads in general are crazy expensive here...a friend of mine went to the local grocery store deli and brought an approx. one pound container of pot. salad and the price tag was over $11.
-I refuse to pay deli prices, I will go without first. Now the bakery at same store has all "self serve" for pastries...just a hotbed of germs IMO. All these hands opening the lids, handling the tongs, etc...almost makes me vomit to look at.
EZ...You are so very organized, I don't know how u do it. Wish I had that quality.
    Kimdee..You're welcome!
