If you think that you'll only ever have one electric vehicle, then wire for one vehicle. Oversize the conduit so that you can pull new wires should your future needs change.

That's a good idea -- best options seem to be to oversize the conduit and be able to pull new wire later if needed, or your suggestion.

Will you have other vehicles? What will they use for fuel?

I think anything (new) but electric will be difficult to find in 10-15 years. I'd definitely plan, with conduit or rough-in wiring, for a charger per bay. As well as an extra 20a or two for chargers for lawn mowers and such.

We wired for 240v/120a to each bay. The cost for the larger wire wasn't that much percentage wise.

If you have them run 2" conduit you can connect up a 100 amp sub-panel in the garage now, and have it upgraded later if you find that insufficient. Most folks use 100 amp sub-panels even if they don't need the amperage, since the 100 amp panels are bigger and give you more space for breakers. Just make sure they route the wire so that its reasonable to pull new wire through the conduit. Use long sweeps and pull boxes at the right places.

I'd wire it now with sheathed cable, not conduit, sized for 100 amps. You'll regret it later paying an electrician to pull wire out of conduit and then pull more wire in. The wire and breakers are not that expensive.
