Help needed: What size mirror for entry way table?

I’m having a hard time talking myself out of this mirror from arhaus. I would like to hang this mirror over our entry table but I’m questioning the size? I know the rule is to stay within 30% - 60% of your table width but I’m obsessed with this style.

Do you think I can pull off a 51.5 inch mirror over my 60inch table? Our ceilings are 10 feet high. TIA!

Tape it out. It isnt really the size per se'. Your console doesn't have a lot of visual weight and the scale of it already looks small for your space based on the photos alone. You may need a beefier console. This is how the scale of the mirror will look compared to the scale of the table.

Thank you! I actually wanted to go with the 70 inch table and mistakenly let my husband talk me out of it. I honestly regret it! The table is from restoration hardware, so I can’t justify purchasing another unless I sell this to buy the larger size. I do like the scale in the picture you posted. I plan on adding two poofs to each side of the console as fillers for the space.

Can you use the current console elsewhere in your house? Then buy a larger console and the mirror you love, and enjoy what you see there day after day. Totally worth it to get what you really want, even if you have to finagle a way. 😉 Skip the poufs, which will just add a cluttered feel. A larger table and that mirror, though, would be perfect in the space.

Have you had it long? Too late to return? Chairs on either side will help feel the space better than poofs only because poofs keep your line of site low and with 10' ceilings you need to fill space. Two wonderful chairs on each side with art stacked above each or the possibility of adding sconces would work. I realize these wont be your exact style but just some reference

The chairs lower than the console here are not to scale don't do this!

I’m actually thinking about purchasing a larger size table to get the grand feel that I want. I don’t have a place the the smaller one unfortunately, so I would def need to get rid of it to justify buying the larger one.

Good luck! I know what that's like to buy something but then realize you want something a bit different.

Omg! I love the chair idea! How would that look with the formal living room and dining room directly across? Last two pictures are from when we closed so ignore the dusty floors and hideous light fixture 😆.

I do like the two chair idea. Would it still flow with our formal living and dining room being directly adjacent to our entry table? Excuse the dusty floors and hideous chandelier in the last two pictures (we had just closed on our house).

From behind the table doesn't look as out of scale. The chairs would be fine as long as you have room when opening your front door. Do you have dining room furniture? I would recommend some new lighting.

I also would be open to this idea. Do you think this would be too high for my ceiling? 60"H, 50.25"W

Just looked the dimensions, I think the one I posted is too high for my ceilings but the size down would work! 39.25 height and 39 width.

Also, I plan on changing the chandelier and ordering this for the dining room and placing the sideboard to the back wall of the formal living.

what are the measurements of your dining room and that table and side board. They appear way too large for your space.

Also using a black finish on every piece is going to equal a wash out. Have you considered mixing up some different finishes?

76 inch table and and 50 inch sideboard.

I ordered this table for the formal living room to break up some of the black also ordered this cowhide rug to place under the coffee table. The sideboard would be centered on this wall. I also ordered pillows in pictured fabric for couch.

I love that Anthropologie mirror. Because it’s style is more delicate than the table you can get away with larger mirror. However, the table is a very beefy style so think about how you could use the table in the dining room possibly. Love that coffee table but what furniture will you use with it?

Oh one more point. I have used that mirror and it is VERY heavy so just be aware of that. I had a pro hang my clients mirror.

I read the weight of the mirror and it scared me! I’ll definitely have it professionally installed once purchased (I don’t trust my husband to do it lol). This is the formal living furniture.

IMO the table should be larger in scale and you should select a vertically oriented mirror.

You can see that your foyer can easily accommodate a larger table/console That gilt mirror you have been looking at is ill-suited for your other furnishings selections IMO.

Since you were looking at RH, I have assembled a number of photos from RH anyone of which would be more interesting than the direction you are headed IMO.

You have a LARGE wall that can take a large console & mirror along with sconces (they don't have to be electric) to assemble an interesting vignette as you enter your home.

Are the chairs swivel? I am wondering if you could reverse the sofa and chairs? Then put that entry table on the long wall with art above it. That would make a beautiful "first impression" for your home. Of course you need a rug, but I don't think the animal rug will "anchor" the light furniture adequately. I also would do a somewhat beefier coffee table. With furniture like yours, you have to consider the "visual weight" of it with other elements. A nice washed walnut type table might be great. Some room measurements would help us. I will hunt around for some ideas for you. bbl

Here is mock up to inspire. The coffee table would be rectangular (couldn’t depict it lengthwise) and coordinated pillows with some texture.

Linen drapes on black rods on your windows would be beautiful. You could dress them up with leading edge trim.

You can also add large piece of Artwork. Large original artworks are an excellent addition that gives character to any space. Good luck and enjoy decor !

Wow, great suggestions and advice! Thank you everyone for the help and inspo.

I will be keeping the same style entry table, but I am open to purchasing the 70 inch version if the mirror I ultimately select calls for a slightly larger console. I really do like the vertical looks vs hanging horizontal, so I will be looking for new mirrors that better suit the table. I also like the idea of adding scones, but will need to hire someone for electrical work and I will wait on that.

I love the formal living room mock up! My table is similar except it’s all glass, so I’ll see how it works once it gets delivered. I also like the idea of adding a lamp to the corner and I the linen drapes on black rods.

Thanks everyone for the advice! This community is so helpful. We closed on our house 4 months ago and started completely over with furniture so forgive the stock photos and horrible builder lighting fixtures.

Just looked at the dimensions of the larger table and it’s actually 76 inches and not 70. I think I have enough for 8 inches on each side given the length of the wall. With it being 76 inches, can I pull off the original horizontal mirror or should I do vertical to emphasize our ceiling height?

    VERTICAL

Just my two cents: Choose the vertical one.... :)

I think vertical it is! Thanks everyone for the help!

Vertical Using painter tape, such as Green frog mark that table length and let us see that size. Also put two pieces of tape on wall for mirror width.

I will work on doing that today or tomorrow. Thanks again!
