IOOF means Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Those came from the auditorium of an IOOF Hall.

Until the late 1970s or early 1980s there was an Odd Fellows farm at Liberty, MO when it closed. Until some of the land was sold off the residents, both male and female, maintained the farm. The building still stands and is in much better shape than what this article makes it sound. At one time there were several building but two larger ones that flanked the main building housed opposite sexes. I remember being told that it was one of several that members of the lodge and women's auxiliary could retire to. The organization has a long history from England to the US. It also has a reputation, in the early 19th century, as being anti-Catholic. But that diminished with time.

There is an Odd Fellows Lodge in my town.
The chairs, by the design, date from 1900, give or take 15 years. Adn were meant to go on a slanted floor.
