I don't think it's chard but some kind of brassica. It almost looks like Brussesls Sprouts, although I'm no expert.

Chard normally grows with all the leaves coming out of the bottom, and the leaves are shiny.

It looks like an older type of broccoli plant to me, to take a wild guess.

Collards are brassicas. True that collard leaves come out of the center stalk and not the bottom, and that's what I'm seeing here. No scale on these pictures, but collard leaves ARE large. Georgia Southern in particular. Healthy plants make larger leaves.

Looks like Georgia Southern ( Walking Collard) to me . Lots of folks only pick the lower leaves as needed. Interesting view of the collard patch in February. Just 3-4 foot stalks with tuft of leaves at the top. In low sunlight conditions they grow taller.

Example todays photo of a Green Cabbage Collard. Normally it grows a short stem and forms a loose head. This year with some shade and rainy weather they are growing exceptionally tall.
