Miele Twin Dos Washer & Dryer

5 years ago

This may be duplicate. Sorry. I just ordered a set of Miele Twin Dos washer & dryer. Wondering what others are using in their canisters? Sticking with the Miele detergent or refilling with your own? Are the scent and softener pods worth it? Looking for feedback :)

    Congrats on your purchase!

    I used the 6 monthly supply of Ultraphase which came with the machine when it was new, but the cartridges lasted closer to 2 years! It was so awesome never having to buy detergent. Make sure you adjust your detergent levels based on your water!

    Now I'm trying their sensitive cartridges, it cleans just as well but it's scent free and contains no optical brighteners. The scent was faint on the original detergent, but I find myself missing it so I may switch back in a few months when it's time to rebuy.

    The pods are wonderful for select items that aren't washed often, love the down capsules since down jackets/bedding are not something that is washed weekly. Also recommend the fragrance pods for the dryer!

    Thank you! Are you using a cartridge for softener or sticking with their phase 2? Have you tried refilling with a different detergent? I can't wait to play with it!! I have very soft water and the cartridges will likely last for a very long time.

    I did buy the fabric softener capsules when I first got the machine, and they work well, but I found I didn't need to use fabric softener anymore. Unfortunately in North America, you can't set the second cartridge to use softener as you can in Europe, your only option is Ultraphase 2. Also the refillable cartridges from Europe don't fit in the machines here, but others have had luck using a funnel to refill old/empty cartridges.

    @Cal

    We refill the TwinDOS phase one bottle with TidePur clean. For Phase 2 we use Ecover Zero peroxide bleach. It is the only 8% liquid peroxide bleach that i've found. That is very close to what the Miele cartridges have in them. This seems to work just as good and its a lot cheaper than phase 2 cartridges.

    We don't buy any of the "PODS" or CapDOS single use detergents. Miele sells almost all of them in small and large bottles. MUCH more affordable that way. The Down and Wool/Silk detergents are the two we keep on hand. I buy the wool detergent in Liter bottles. That is used for wool pants, wool sweater, wool socks, etc. The down detergent is for pillows and comforters. We use less of the down detergent so buy the 8oz bottles.

    I also use the wool detergent in a commercial hot water carpet extractor machine to launder our wool throw and Persian rugs. Works very well for that.

    Washer is in dryer was delayed. A little confused on which cycle for heavy blankets. Definately a learning curve :). Due to Covid white globe delivery this time was installing and telling me to read the manual. Lol

    @Sandra Bricker I tend to use the Table Linens/Drapes cycle for bulkier items such as sheets/blankets. However, you could probably use any cycle since the machine will adjust itself for the weight/balance of items.

    I’m trying to figure out what level to set the Phase 1&2 for hard water. I’ve never been one to use bleach so Ihave no clue what level to set. Also do I need to change the levels with the different size loads of laundry. Miele customer service doesn’t really seem to know anything.

    I think that the factory setting is close to hard water setting - it is a little high. Do you have an actual water hardness number? without that we are just guessing

    all of this is trial and error btw
