I've done some electrical but might call in a pro for this one, but I'd like to ask anyway. I want to install a new pendant light above my kitchen sink. Currently there are some outlets on the wall near the sink so I can tie into those, but they are all under the kitchen cabinets. Would you add the switch, then run the wire behind the kitchen cabinets, up into the attic and then down through the ceiling to the new light fixture? Is there space enough behind the cabinets to do this? Is that up to code or do you need to run metallic sheathed cable or something? The cabinets go right up to the ceiling, so it seems very tough to fish the new wires through.
