Hi! Do you have your heart set on painting the bed? It looks to be in good shape (Howard’s Restor-a-finish is great to cover up any scratches). Your room seems cramped, though, and you may want to consider storage solutions (under bed? More streamlined closet storage?) and perhaps a less bulky dresser. New bed linens, bedside lighting, and art might give you the “refresh” you are looking for. More pictures of the room might will get you more suggestions, and you might want to include bedroom picture in your idea books for folks to get an idea of your preferred style. Have fun!

May we see all 4 walls of your room and all the furniture? Placing the dresser in front of a window is not optimal, so let's see what else we can do in the space?

Paint it your favorite color...and add decor to match...but this is not a job for an amateur ...that looks like big job preparing that finish ...to accept and hold a paint finish well....it also looks a nice quality .....painting the walls a bright white and adding color with decor may be a more practical way to effect a big change

Keep the bed as it. Get two wall mounted reading lights to free up some nightstand space. Get a great piece of art for over the bed. And declutter.

And the spend on some really new white sheets and a duvet. Can get nice hotel quality sheets and pilllows at shopmarriot.com. And some quality traditions:transitional duvet colors with a pattern from Amazon.com Stone and Beam furniture line.

You can probably do a total 360 turnaround and make the room look nice and new with other things, rather than painting the best thing in the room. More pics please.

thank you all for hour suggestions. Its a rental apartment so I’m limited on painting the walls. I can keep the bed frame as is. The dresser is located infront of the mirror is the only space available for it. I have a wall mounted tv infront on the bed. Will add more pictures of the room so You all can see

The bed looks very nice. Instead of painting it, I suggest you put some money into a beautiful comforter or bedspread and a piece of art for above the headboard. Coordinated sheets, taller lamps and color will complete the room. Add an upholstered chair if there is room.

You might start with finding a coverlet or quilt you love and then you can find art and curtains to coordinate. I found this one from Target a few years ago and decorated our guest bedroom around it. By the way if you get a king size comforter or coverlet for a king sized bed, the overhang will be enough that you won’t need a bed skirt

    I meant king for queen sized . . .

You need a new layout for the room, and consider possibly eliminating the footboard on the bed as it takes up so much room visually.

Rather than painting, you might consider adding a gel stain. Often called "ghost coating" the technique can really upgrade the look without as much work.

Can you move that dresser that is near the window to the left side of the bed and hang the mirror on the wall that your purse is near - WITH command strips.

So no paint on the walls....even if it is an approved creamy white?

Multiple full sheer panels over the window. Almost an opaque feeling.

    Bed in front of window,

    Desk in another room

One nightstand with a lamp, floor lamp only on other side of bed.

Dresser on long wall; remove mirror from dresser and find different mirror with modern or ornate feel in black, silver, or gold.

Silk plant somewhere. Large art work over bed that works with duvet.

Colorful duvet cover on the bed

    Art to support the bedding.

    TV on wall behind door.

Small upholstered chair in color that supports duvet.

@susan thank you for the tips. Large artwork can’t go over the bed if I put it on the window wall.

Window wall behind the bed is also annoying if it casts light on the TV you are trying to watch.

I would take out the dresser or put it on the other side of the bed next to the door which is presumably the bathroom door ? Then look where you can build more storage space ...perhaps above the bathroom door ...or all around it ..., it not the bed that is the problem , it the rug on the floor , and the clutter ...you manage that , then all you have to buy is a beautiful white set of linens and beautiful pillows and you have a beautiful room . Don't paint the bed ...the wood bed is not the problem ..it's everything else around it!

While you're moving the dresser out to try the bed behind the window - try my suggestion of moving the dresser to the side of the bed...first. That dresser and desk are your Achilles Heel.

If you’re renting, then spending your money on a comforter, sheets and decorative pillows is the best idea. The challenge with painting the bed, besides the incredible work it represents, is that your dresser matches it. If you post a to-scale layout of the room and the size of your furniture, you’ll get ideas of furniture placement from the pros. Can any of the furniture go in another room? It certainly looks tight in there.

@RedRyder unfortunately I can’t move any of the existing furniture here to another room. I know I have bulky furnitures but it’s my only choice for now. I am getting new table lamps and possibly can stain the bed frame, purchased new comforter set as well.
