yes, I'll take some pictures shortly after I get my kids off to school.

Here is the current space, the row and close up. I moved the Hygrangeas and amended the soil this fall since they some of them didn't do as well as others this summer (as probably evidenced from the pictures). When I was moving one, it split so I actually have a 5th smaller one planted elsewhere, I am wondering if I should add it in here so add more fullness? although it will be much smaller for a year or two.

I would say it is a personal preference whether you want to add something in front of boxwood or at the back of hydrangea. Since you are somewhere north I personally would keep boxwood in front because it is evergreen and it will keep the weeds out. And consider adding something at the back next to the fence to cover it unless you are enjoying the view. Some shrubs ( better evergreen to keep color in winter ( - love yews, but you may have deer or not big fan of them ) or dwarf slow growing deciduous trees or conifers. Hydrangea eventually will fill the space, but you may plant something for a couple years in between. Boxwood - are you going to create those green balls or just straight hedge? I would give them a little bit more space if you are considering balls, but hard to say anything until we know the cultivar name and their growth rate.

I don’t think there’s room for anything else there, other than perhaps some temporary annuals or some clumps of tall perennials, and definitely not in front of the box. I see you already have something evergreen trained on the fence. What is it? Btw HyDrangea.

Hello! I have the EXACT same dilemma. I have hydrangeas and want to plant freen velvet boxwood nice and snug against them. Did you have any luck? any advice?
