Designing open lockers with hooks. with 2 adults 2 kids in family and the space I have available, I can do:

1. 5 sections of 18” wide each. 4 would be for each of us to have our “area”, center area to be either open shelves with bins (we could each have one for hats gloves etc) or shelves inside a cabinet with door. See photo, this is the current design.

OR...

2. 4 sections of 22” wide each and no center area. Here I would have to incorporate accessory bins elsewhere in the design or just have them sitting on the bench—neither is really offensive to me.Keeping them up high is a possibility but in the immediate future, my kids wouldn’t be able to reach them.

Main question at this point is whether the extra width will be worth having. My current instinct is that 18” wide could be a little cramped with multiple jackets, sport and ballet bags etc.

Anyone have experience to share??
