Wiring 18kw furnace

I have an 18kw furnace with two built-in breakers. A 50a DP and a 60a DP. Can I run TWO #4 NM lines from the main to the furnace (the main is only 12' away). Or should I run a 100amp sub from the main and next to the furnace and then the two lines to the furnace? Same amperage breakers in either the main or sub (1-50, 1-60)? Main panel is a 200amp service with minimal load.

The first thing is to read the installation manual as to what it says the requirements are. The value of the internal breakers means NOTHING.

If the main panel is that close, I'd run appropriate sized cables with appropriate sized breakers.

If this isn't your own single-family house, you have no business messing with this at all.

I think the same comment applies even if it is a single family house you own.

Call an electrician to do the work properly and in compliance with code requirements. You don't seem to know what you're doing and getting anonymous advice from an internet forum won't change that.
