Can you post a photo with a wider view of the room?

From what I can see, everything in the room has warm brown tones. Gray is a cool tone. Gray and brown are both neutral but they don't naturally play nice together. You can make the colors look cohesive by strategically placing gray accents around the room and add some grey/warm patterns. That will help the eye tie the cool gray and warm brown colors.

I would consider adding a bright accent color as well. Orange works nicely with grays and browns.

my logs read orange so it’s hard to put orange in there

I would consider adding some more lamps. the room looks very dark in your photos.

I suggested orange because of the logs. The orange will help tie the log color to the decor and give the eye a break from all the neutrals in the room.

This room is long and narrow with two door ways. I always treat it as two areas as it’s too long as one Kind of hard to work with

I like the Lucienne Geometric rug and it's a popular style these days. I mentioned going lighter, along the lines of your drapes, as a possibility. I think I might lean toward a rug with less patterning, though, especially since you will be using two of them. You have a lot of texture and movement in your space with the architecture, already, so I think I'd keep it fairly simple pattern-wise on the rugs. And I absolutely love all the wood detail, btw, beautiful space.

freedomplace1...could you send a few pics of what rugs would look good? don't want shag

    freedomplace1...what color curtains?

Your current drapes look fantastic. You could keep those and sync the rugs up with the drapes. That could be one good approach.

I would be happy to send some rug ideas. It would help to see some pics of the sofas you are bringing in, so I can see the style, more exact coloration, etc.

Ok. I’ll have the new sofas in about 10 days. I’ll post a pic when they come in

would a rug like this work ?

Or does that have too much patten too ??

It's possible that it could work, and you're going in the right direction. You definitely know what you are doing! I think something similar that is even a bit more subtle in the pattern might possibly work even better. And I also need to see the sofas to get a better read on it. Fabulous sconces flanking door, btw, really love those.

I need to keep in mind my house is lived in. I have 18 grandkids so I want something that’s low maintenance. Definitely not white Or off white but I’d like something light coloured

Here’s a pic of the sofas ordered

I’ll send a pic when I have them in my space

I'm going to make one more comment about the logs and then bow out. You can choose to ignore the log color. It's your house, you are the one that lives there. But, IMO, it's the same situation as painting the walls a bossy color and then ignoring the color while you decorate the rest of the space. Freedom's photos of gray and brown decor are lovely but they both have a light, neutral backdrop.

Notice this room's nod to the orange walls - the picture over the fireplace and the pillows. You just need a few log colored touches to tie the whole room together.

Strongly agree with Dee. This is a rustic, wood room. Gray is not a great choice to pair with log-colored walls. If the walls were a very light gray or creamy white, the gray furniture might work.

I wanted to show some rug ideas for gray furniture in log homes:

Hard to see the rug here, but like above, it’s pretty neutral:

But you could certainly bring in a more colorful rug. I’d wait and see with the new furniture in.

deejw... thanks for the advice. I’ll try some orange. I’m so over the logs and the orange color through out the house but that’s what I have to work with so I will.

Jinx... could you put this rug under the gray sofa for me?? Thanks

@Jinx to the rescue. Once again.... 👐 :)

All of @Jinx' ideas are fantastic. You can go any number of ways. Since you are bringing in two rugs, I still like the idea of keeping it fairly simple on the rugs, and bringing in more pattern possibly in pillows, etc. - as you are going to be using a couple of colors in accessories to tie the scheme together. Plus, with bringing in the two rugs, you are going to have a lot of pattern in the space... So if you do that - make sure you really love that pattern! :). And as I mentioned yesterday, your space already has a lot of texture and movement in the architectural detail. Plus, there is pattern on current drapes. I love @Jinx first picture a lot, with the tan natural fiber looking rug. I found an indoor/outdoor rug that has a similar look, and posted it for another dilemma yesterday. I will find it and post it for you, also. It's a nice option for durability and easy care. 18 grandchildren?! That is incredible. So impressive...

I like your new sofas, btw. Personally I am a vegan and don't do real leather pieces, but the color is very nice as is the style on your pieces, and they look to be good quality. And grey and brown absolutely do work together, and imo you do not need orange accents.
