I would probably avoid the bottom of the line Carrier for reasons other than just efficiency. Do you have a separate furnace already or is this included in the price? If not, is there any additional ductwork included in the $8800 price? The prices seem a little high for just an AC condenser and coil install. But the only way to really tell is to get multiple bids.

What are you heating with?

I just heard back from the builder. She said pricing is for AC unit, install and electrical. Heating is separate.

Are these carrier bottom of the line? I thought they were somewhere in between the performance and comfort models. You think getting a build in and lstter on shopping for a local AC contractor is a better way to go? Pricing did look high to me.

Have they run the Manual-J Calc's to see if this system will even cool the house as specified?
