Great Room Beams - color?

New build. Great room is -18” x 16”.

We have decided on a white planked cathedral ceiling with one center beam 11’ feet high and two beams on either side of center beam. The fireplace will have a stone or brick surround, some kind of mantle and shiplap above the mantle up to the peak. The fireplace juts into the room 2ft. There are windows on either side of the fireplace.

would it look ok to have ceiling and beams all white, walls white or light , mantle beam stained . Floor will be wood - on the medium to darker stain.
Should the beams be stained?

If you want them to stand out and express their natural beauty, you stain them, or if you want them more hidden and something else in the room to be more of a focal point you paint them.

I am not a designer.. I agree with GN Builders. I feel that stain look a bit "busier" in that there would be alot for the eye to take in. Stained beams also look a bit more rustic.. and your planked ceiling more noticeable. White beams would allow your fireplace wall to be the focal point. If you stain them, you could always paint them in the future if you dont love the stained look..Either choice, your room will be beautiful.
