Short answer - no. It won't attract them.......but there is a possibility that they could find some hiding places if the gaps were big enough. And they can certainly crawl up and over!

Fit your bricks as close together as you can. And bait for slugs when you start planting.

If I fill every gap with soil, will slugs still want to live in there?

Soil will not deter slugs. In my experience any damp and dark space, however small, will shelter slugs. There are even distinct soil dwelling species. I once tried using boards to make raised beds. Disaster. They were slug and snail paradise.

So a wood based raised bed isn’t more or less better for slug issues than bricks with gaps?

If you have a decent slug population and you are growing something they like, they will find it! It doesn't matter if the bed is raised or not or if you are growing in containers.......they can crawl up and over or up and into. I have seen slug issues with a 36" tall galvanized metal feed trough used as a raised bed. And they easily get into my containerized hostas, even when further elevated on very thin legged plant stands! Sometimes I think they must be falling out of the sky!!

If you have slug issues, the very best you can do is attempt to reduce the number of hiding places available to them and bait or trap.

And it sounds harsh but I skewer any slugs I encounter when doing routine gardening chores. They are almost worse than the deer.

Slugs don’t care about the material. As GG said they just need a dark, damp place to hide.

I was referring to the open spaces the bricks can create by placing them next to each other whereas for wood, it’s going to be a frame with no small open spaces so I thought this is less inviting to slugs.

If they don't hide within the bed construction they will find another place that offers the conditions they like. They can travel some significant distance!

The point is - if you have slugs present, it doesn't make any difference how or with what your raised bed is constructed. If there is something growing there they like, they will get to it.

Ok I will use my bricks with slugs baits(beer?) I’m growing tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, watermelons, kabocha squash, and possibly green peppers. Don’t know if slugs like any of those.

If seedlings, they will love them all!!
