Granite is a non porous stone and is typically safe from staining. The one thing that will seep in is oil. Because your stains are around the sink, oil/grease is the culprit.

Suggest you buy a poultice for granite stains (a poultice will suck the oil out) or make it yourself: here’s a recipe/directions

Mix a paste of baking soda and water that has the consistency of sour cream. Slather the paste on the stain. Cover the paste with plastic wrap. Let set for 24 hours, then remove the poultice, and clean the area.

Different granites have different porosities. Kashmir White is hardly suitable for a countertop; it sucks up everything. Others are dense and difficult to stain.

Dirty sink water and soap, not oil, is what's causing the staining around the sink. It can probably be removed with a poultice. Google and try please.

Thank you for the suggestion on using the baking soda/water poultice to draw out the stain, Judy! It's taken several applications, each left on for 24 hours, but my granite is nearly back to normal. I have the last poultice on the spot now and, once it's cleaned off and fully dry, I'll seal the entire counter again. And, I'm on the hunt for a dish to put my soap dispenser on to prevent this from happening again! Much appreciated!
