Bathroom Exhaust Fan

Our house was built in 1996. The master bath has a separate toilet room with an exhaust fan. The main part of the bathroom has a window and had a ceiling fan which we have removed. We have also permanently removed the door to the toilet room due to it being in the way when opened and we keep our cat litter box in there. My question...we are considering installing a heat/vent fan/light combo where the ceiling fan used to be because the vent in the toilet room does not vent the shower efficiently. Should we keep the exhaust fan in the toilet room and have a dual exhaust that goes to the same exterior vent or just eliminate the toilet room vent altogether? I am also not fully committed to the heat feature but we do need the extra light.

The closer an exhaust is to the shower, the better the moisture will vent, so I would locate the vent in the main part of bathroom. It should not connect to toilet exhaust. You may find a heat/vent/light unit requires more amps than your wiring is rated for, so you'll have to check that out. Especially if it's on the same circuit as outlet next to sink.

Panasonic has some very nice heat/vent/fan units, but most will require a dedicated circuit because the heat capability draws about 1500 watts of power.

Another option for venting two locations with one exterior vent is an inline fan in the vent to the roof, and a Y connection for the two vented areas. However, this is not a real common solution and I've mostly seen it used when someone does not like the noise of the vent fan in the room.
