Backsplash

Lovely 'splash. Curious if you might share your thoughts on the pros/cons from a design perspective of choosing a smaller tile versus a larger format. We have a similar modern kitchen, but I'm unsure whether to go bigger or smaller on stacked tile. I'm guessing larger format tile is more challenging to get right (?). Any thoughts appreciated, thanks!

It's not hard to find a 3x12 tile, which is bigger than what we see here. My 2 cents are that when I have modern and clean lines, I want to add texture and depth. One of the ways to achieve it is with tiles that give another layer of texture. Personally, I love smaller tiles than more oversized tiles because then I can create a pattern by using them. If I want to create a quiet look, I will use the same grout color. If I want to draw the eye to the backsplash, I will use a darker grout color to see all the lines and enhance the tile pattern. I hope that helps!

@Carmit Oron Interior Design yes, that helps a lot! Despite being in the tile hunt for a year, it's only hit me now that small tile can add texture! Thank you so much!
