What you have now is more current and far more practical than the vessel sinks. Every single drip outside the vessel sink has to be mopped up or left to water spot. They are hard for short kids, even with tall stepstools, to reach. If you are looking for a dramatic update, consider wallpapering the room.

I like your idea of a floating vanity. The vessel you choose could be wide enough to reach the handles and not drip into the counter. I've found that the depth of the one you have makes it difficult for littles to reach the handles. If you went this route, you could also do a matching floating shelf or two. Did you want to update the wall color?

I love having a floating sink in our small half bath. It updated the space and makes the room look larger. I have attached a before with a pedestal and after. Good luck!

I go back and forth about the shiplap but I really do love the look so I was thinking of doing that in the wall with the vanity and then repaint the other 3? We have primarily blues and grays in the house but our kitchen and the current powder room are both in the same family of green
