I think it depends on the rest of your home. I see you have black hardware on the entry door? Is that through the rest of your home? What hardware do you have on cabinets in other rooms, like the kitchen? A mixture or all black?

Hi CDR! It’s brass in most of the home. It’s an older home (1940s) but this part was an addition back in the 90s so this area has some oil rubbed bronze door hardware. Our master bath has polished nickel cabinet hardware.

(just make sure you get brighter bulbs in your new fixture. current ones are very yellow)

I don't understand "I’d like to use the topknobs Charlotte cup pulls." What's wrong with the soft color sheen that's there? what use in changing the finish....

I think the fabric is too delicate with so much wood, and esp. if black hardware. Subtle stripes instead? and with the light too.

CDR, thank you! I think I prefer the black too. Any guidance on faucet color 😬. I’m thinking brass if I’m going with black on the hardware and brass for the light.

Everdebz, I don’t care for that particular brass finish in this area. I think a darker brass finish would be beautiful, but it’s SO difficult to find pulls that are the right size for the holes that are already there. These Charlotte pulls are the aesthetic I like and will fit. Thank you!

Yeh ok. But how many dark handles/knobs does it amount to, asking cause I think it's important.

Hi. I think a brass faucet and light fixture would pull this together with the rest of your home. However, I don't think that is the right light. It is only 13" wide. I think a wider light with a flush or semi-flush mount would be better.

What is the size of the room?

Thanks CDR! I’ll look into some flush/semi-flush mounts. The ceilings are pretty high, so was hoping I could do pendant or semi flush, but you’re probably right. I’ll measure the room as soon as I can and let you know the measurements.

I'm curious what other lighting is to be in the room?

Everdebz, there will only be the one overhead light, and I plan on putting a small lamp on the counter also.

There could be a suitable transitional LED light for you? flat semi flush sort of... or really neat and trim track light in a square shape.... we need light to see!! if older esp. ;) just sayin.

Idk whether LED lighting at toe kick or under cabinets would be ok... I long to have that.

I would add more light for sure, if you can. Under-cabinet lighting would have been idea. is there tile on the sides? Might still be able to add it.

There are battery powered ucl, but the batteries don't last long.

Hi Lauren. The fixture in the laundry room should be more like 18-20 inches in diameter. How high are the ceilings? Do you have no light in the mudroom or the other hall?

So, the pic with the baby gate is looking from the family room down the all into the master. French doors to the right lead onto our back patio and the doorway on the left is the mud room.

The second pic is looking from that hallway into the mud room which goes out to the carport. The door on the right leads into the laundry.

Third pic is looking into the mud room from the carport. To the the left is the laundry

Fourth pic is in the laundry where the fridge will go.

Fifth pic is where the washer/dryer will go.

CDL, ok, I’ll look into larger lights. The ceilings are 10’. There are 2 recessed lights in the mud room and 2 in the other hall.

Here is the same light in medium size. With 10 foot ceilings, you can use this light.

What is the reason you chose this light? Does is work with the rest of the home?

I think it works with the rest home, but I’m just a Pinterest-inspired decorator winging it over here 😆. I’ll post some more pics of our home as soon as I get all the toys picked up 😳😬😆

Not many laundry rooms get Circa lighting and Schumacher shades, so this will be a show-stopper.

Just looked at the price on the larger lantern 😳. We’ll have to see what the hubs has to say about that, and I was already having to convince him about the shades 😆. But that’s the look I’m shooting for! Here’s a few pics of some of the rest of the house. Still not finished decorating. We’ve got some art being framed that needs to go up, and I’d love to style my coffee tables, but with 3 small children, I might leave them empty for now just for my sanity. Here’s the dining area, entry, family room, and living room. Thank you for all your help!

Thanks so much. Looking at your ideabooks and the photos of your home, it feels more "modern farmhouse" or maybe Mcgee and company. I don't think you have to have that chandelier for the laundry room. There are plenty others that would work.

What do you think about moving the one in the front hall to laundry room and a different one for laundry room? I don't think the one in the front hall has lines that go well with the dining room chandelier.

Do you see what I mean how the more rounded lines in the dining aren't working with the front hall? I'd go with a larger, but semiflush mount for front hall.
