Your cabinets & kitchen look pretty traditional, and I find the very long pulls to be very modern looking. I'm not opposed to mixing styles, as long as you know you're doing it and feel OK about that. My traditional/transitional shaker-ish white cabinet's pulls are 4" on all uppers, and 5 or 6" on bottoms, depending on drawer size.

If you cut that handle in half, it would be perfect. get a 6 or 7" (total length, not hole space) and see how the y look

these are prob a 10" or so. looks better w/the knob on the smaller ones. Two oversized long handles will be too much

you could go longer on the bottom drawers if want.

I really like the ones you pictured here. They seem to complement the height of the cabinets, and in a way echo the pendants you have. Everything looks good together without any "too match-y" issues..

I used 10” for bottom pantry and 6” for top cupboards. See attached picture. I’m pleased.

I like the look of the longer pulls.

I think those are too big. It almost makes them look like they need to be centered with the cabinet. Hope I’m making sense. Definitely go smaller. Beautiful kitchen so far!! Doesn’t need so much coming from the handles. Looks great already. You don’t want overkill

Thanks Carrie B. I actually do want them to look more on the modern side. Trying to update and move away from the heavy traditional look. Ready for a clean and minimal look.

Any pull longer than 8-10”will look oversized. The “modern” feel (vs. traditional) would come in the choice of pull style. Extending the length too much doesn’t do that, it’s just disproportionate to me. I’m with Beth on this one. The gold tone pulls would be pretty modern right now.

RedRyder I am going to get a 10” and compare. I can tell you that the 8”, due to the scale of the room and the height of the cabinets, looked so skimpy. It is a large space with 10.5’ ceilings.
It is also open to a eating area and den with a trey ceiling with 14’ ceilings. And when I say open I mean all one room. I would have never considered a different style with more weight and size in a large pull, but this one is small and dainty, however, I need it to be right. Too much time and money for it not to be right.

We have 12” pulls on all our upper and lower cabinets except the ones over the fridge which are 8”. I love how big they are!

Rebekah Gibbs those look good. Will you post a photo of the 8” over the fridge. And one of your lower doors with the 12”?

So we also have a 8” on a set of 24” drawers and the trash pull out.

barbbichsel thank you. We love it. I purchased it in GA from a show room. This is the tile and the distributor that supplied it to my retailer. It is International Wholesale Tile in FL.

“I am not here to debate the knob or pull issue.” Yikes. “Comments, criticisms, and photos of your cabinets will be appreciated.” Okey dokey. The beautiful backsplash tile is curvaceous, rounded. The loooooong straight pulls are rigid rulers. IMHO they fight each other. Way too much.

looks great. and the larger handles are fine because you have very tall cabinets and high ceilings. on 36" cabs in a 7' ceiling, it would look horrible! yours looks great.

As you can see my ceilings are tall and I was so worried it would be so overwhelming with all the tall cabinets, but I knew they had to go to the ceiling cause our others did not. Wow it looks sooo beautiful. The difference is night and day. I love it!!! i want to add top cabinets as well. i love when cabinets go all the way up to the ceiling.

my problem is i do not know how to balance the stacks since i have 25 inch space to fill. So i think using yours as guide I may be able achieve that look. I only have 9ft ceiling so Perhaps 5 inch molding and 3in trim board might work better. Then 17 custom cabinets with 14.5 doors. Any thoughts? Do you have a cabinet designer or you did it?

HU. We did hire someone to help us figure it out and a revit (computer generated drawing) was done. We wanted to see what it was going to look like. For the cost of the renovation, we didn’t feel we could just wing it. This also gave the cabinet maker a blue print. It was worth the money spent. When you measure your ceiling height and cabinet heights, you have to remember there is the frame that makes up the box of the cabinet. So you will not actually have the 25 inch space to fill. Also, the type of cabinet may affect that. For instance, my drawers and doors are inset and not an overlay. The one thing I was specific about with the top cabinet was that I did not want them to be square or all glass. That may have dictated the size of the bottom cabinet or width of the cabinet frame. My advice is to make sure you question everything and ask why if they say they can’t do that. And if they say I wouldn’t do that, question it and make them explain. It may just be what they’d do if it was their kitchen, not necessarily what you want. One other piece of advice is not to make a decision on the spot. Take the time to process it and sleep on it. It’s a stressful process, but so worth it in the end!

Do you have the name of your light fixtures? They are perfect for a client project!

The most important measurement for [ -shaped handles: is the space inside the [ deep enough for your fingers to slip in-and-out easily? If you use a knob instead of a handle, can you open the door or drawer with one finger? That’s how I select my handles and knobs. My current kitchen has all knobs for drawers AND doors because I had plenty of them when we remodeled a year ago.

You have inset cabinets....it needs a "lighter" look than FULL OVERLAY, which can handle the tall handles...lol. I agree with BETH H....go smaller. 6-8".

I typically recommend knobs with inset uppers...and pulls on lowers only. But with the tall doors you have, handles make more sense.

There were quite a few comments here, so we are not quite sure if someone mentioned this already - we generally recommend the "1/3" RULE".

That means that your overall pull length (not hole centers) be approximately 1/3" the length of your drawer width (or cabinet height). That helps keep the pulls in direct proportion to the height or width of the doors/drawers.

For example, if your bottom doors are 42" tall, use a pull that is approximately 14", and if the upper doors are 24" tall, use a pull that is approximately 8".

Keep in mind that it is a guideline....you won't always find a pull that is exactly 1/3, but if you are close, it will look proportional.

Oh Door Corner where were you a week ago. You would have saved me a few sleepless nights worrying about this. It was suggested to
use a 12” for the lowers and 9” for the uppers, however, I just couldn’t visualize it. Your formula was pretty spot on for my cabinets. My lowers are 46” and uppers 21”. I went with the 12” and 9”. I think they are perfect.

Your pulls in the straight brass tone and lengths echo the lines of your lantern shapes so well. Nicely done!
