I would go with TV on a side of FP and couch facing the FP and TV. Add couple of chairs. Try not blocking the windows.

Tv in the corner on a console? That was my first thought, but wasn‘t sure on it.

Your idea seems better, as it will be easier to include a couple of arm chairs for a conversational grouping (and a place to sit by day to enjoy the view)...

How big is the TV? Is it too big for near the fireplace? If so, then I don't see an issue with placing it across from the windows, since there's plenty of light.

We don’t have the tv yet, but my partner wants like a 65 inch one.

don't pay attention so much to the style. some won't be applicable to your room. just the positioning of furniture.

Thank you for the pics! I was also considering about painting the brick white. Would you do a sectional at all or a couch and chairs? There’s three of us. Just want it to be cozy.

What is the size of the room?

sectional might be a bit too crowded for that room. the one end would block the entryway? hard to tell on picture.

get yourself some painters tape and tape out the dimensions of the sofa you're considering. this way you'll get an idea of how it fits in the room.

People really underestimate the size of sofas when they purchase them.

maybe a longer sofa w/a chaise on the far end? put it over on the window side and mount the tv on the wall.

or, just look at the examples and see which one would work best for your set up.

BTW, instead of the traditional looking white mantle surround, maybe do a solid wood beam

or, if keeping it, do the brick in a darker color

or incorporate some built ins and paint the wall a darker color

I also thought about built ins and really like that picture. Wasn‘t sure how built ins would look. I’m always worried I’m going to make a wrong decision!

Feedback from the other half is he doesn’t want to paint breaks. He‘s more traditional. He is considering built ins though.

Lots of good ideas here. My input would be that you have an amazing window and it would be a shame to block it with a sofa. Two chairs and a table placed at the edge of the rug would look good. I love swivel bucket chairs for a family room. They are comfortable and fun. A plus would be that you could turn around and look out the window whenever you wanted, or turn towards the fireplace if you ever use it. My second suggestion would be to include some live plants into your design. It looks like you have plenty of light to keep them happy! A big fiddle leaf fig or dracaenas in a coordinating floor pot would be a nice addition.

Items contemporary, a white wall would be good I think. .. frames whatever...

I guess you wouldn't want 'busy' looks around the room, not with rug.

You could play up textures quite a bit -- white chairs, or pillows.

We just bought the house and really are starting from a clean slate, as we both didn’t have much at all. No art or furniture to bring into the space. We both lean more on the traditional side. Favorite colors are blue and green. I appreciate all the suggestions!

The brick is pretty and looks like it matches your outside brick. I can understand not painting it. Some dilemma's have ugly brick and have no choice but to paint - but - not yours.

How about a layout like this? TV opposite the windows, coda facing the fireplace, chairs that swivel and face the sofa. You could place matching dressers around the fireplace for storage and then place lamps and art. Make sure the width of a sofa allows for movement around. Great rug!

For the couch I'd go with a dark blue that matches the shade in the rug. I think there's a picture of a nice one posted already. If you could find a set with matching chairs that would be a good safe start- the rug is already pretty "busy" and it might be hard for you to try and match a patterned fabric. Black would also work, or even the white from the rug. I'd then pick your accent color(s) and place pillows and throws around that include this color along with some of the dark blue to tie it together. Do you have a green thumb? I'm really seeing some plants in there :)
