I have plantation shutters across two large sliders that face the beach. I like the plantations because they block out all the light in summer months when I’m not there, but are great for letting the light and views in when I’m there. The only thing I don’t like is how they open in sections, so even when they’re completely open there’s still some obstruction of the view. I’d like to convert them to a folding design, where the two sections would push to either side. It seems simple enough, reversing some hinges and adding a track above for an accordion style. My only dilemma is what to do about the partitions between sections; if I use only the doors I’ll end up with a ~2” gap when they’re totally shut. Is there some sort of hinge that I could attach to one door, attach to the partition, and then attach to the other door? Any other ideas?
