My parents had a coffee table in both that stain and in black. Perhaps chalk paint matte, or a semi-glossy?

That's a perfect table for modern/mid century modern. It looks like that's the only MCM thing in the space.

Okay thanks! Maybe I don’t need to do anything then. It’s in an undecorated playroom (that’s why it has those white bumpers on the corners) but we’re moving and could use it more in the living room now. Sounds like it wouldn’t necessarily clash with mcm so maybe I’ll try it out in the new space once we move and see how it looks.

I agree it is perfect and please chalk paint is in no way modern.
