Comments (1)Design your kitchen with a professional kitchen designer first. They will help you figure out which appliances will work best and not compromise the design. Whatever you do have the design finalized before you buy any appliances. In my opinion a 60 cm oven is very small and in the US would be frowned on by most designers as a primary oven. We cook 24lb turkeys so a 24" oven isn't even manufactured by American companies anymore, they fell out of fashion in the 1980's. You need professional help in deciding how you will allocate both space and your budget to make sensible decisions. Comments (18)We have the HR1134, which is the 36" all-gas range. As I mentioned above, the first unit had lots of problems. After the third service call, I raised the issue with my dealer, whose management arranged for a brand new replacement unit. That was about a year ago, and (knock on wood) we've had no problems with it. I think the first unit was a lemon. I like it a lot. and I use it a LOT. This model is very basic, not the high-tech one with the touch-panel and other features that will just break and become obsolete. We needed an all-gas unit because our apartment will not support the electricity needed for a dual-fuel unit. I also insisted on self-cleaning oven. There are not many choices if you want a 36" all-gas range with self-cleaning oven: basically your choices are Miele, Thermador, GE Monogram, Dacor, and Capital. (Wolf has a 36" all gas range, but the burner BTUs are not great and there's no self-cleaning.) Our final decision was basically Miele vs. Capital. Capital is a new company whose long-term reliability was unknown; plus the oven was small. Miele - the ranges are a new product line, but we've been very happy with their dishwashers. So we went with Miele. As I said, this model is very basic: just knobs for the burners and oven/broiler. Not even an oven thermometer; you just have to trust that it's heating to the right temperature - though I did measure it and it was quite accurate. The broiler is nuclear strength, best broiler I've ever used. The burners are very powerful, except for one simmer burner which does that job well. The design is clean and minimal. One thing I'd recommend is to make sure your backsplash behind the oven is capable of withstanding intense heat. We have white porcelain tiles that have turned a little brown above the rear vent. Comments (25)I love the stove. I did have trouble with one of the gas burners and called for service.. They were out and replaced all the burners at no charge.. They had a upgrade with their newer stoves. I was talking with the service guy who works on all the high end appliances and said with this stove I have no worries and he rarely has service calls. Usage.... Love how everything is together.. I'm not taking up space in my kitchen. I use the warming drawer a lot and having two ovens I love!! Microwave is wonderful. It actually cooks differently than a standard microwave .. I can tell with the taste and the look of the food. I have not yet really used all the features it offers but they have cooking classes you can attend and will show you how to use them.. I went to one.. It was great!! I would like to go again... Comments (13)After much research, this is what will go into my kitchen when I remodel. Since my remodel has been on hold for over a year, the model numbers may have changed. I do a lot of cooking and baking and feel these meet my needs the best. Viking Professional 5 Series VIC5366B Induction Cooktop. I've had gas & electric and I like all the features that an induction offers.Some of the reasons I like this cook top as I am able to put large pans on it surface without being limited to a burner size, knobs rather than a computerized screen, and each burner has its own power whereas in the lesser expensive brands/model of induction burners share power so there can be some issues if you are using all the burners at once. Yrs ago Viking had a lot of repair issues but since then they have been purchased by a company that manufacturers high-end commercial appliances and much of their technology and knowledge is now used in their residential appliances. The cons here is this is the most expensive induction (at least last time I looked) unit available and you may have to replace your cookware if it isn't magnetic. Isn't it beautiful :) 30" Electric Double French-Door Oven - VDOF 730SS Viking Professional 7 Series As I age, I want a oven that the doors swing open so that it is easier to get things into it. I had it down to the Bosch and this Viking one. For my needs, I liked the Viking better. Since my initial research, they now have made the upper oven self cleaning. Featuring a large 4.7-cu.-ft. oven cavity, the unit’s French-doors can be opened with just one hand, and the companion door conveniently opens simultaneously. I have had Sub Zero and have made the decision to get a less expensive fridge. One of the reasons is that I felt the Sub Zero didn't offer as much freezer room as other brands I have had. My SZ as was going on 20 yrs with no problems but it didn't have all the bells & whistles which are offered now on other brands and I hated to spend $$ on a replacement when I had a perfectly good working fridge but I wished for it to die so I could get a new one with all the new technology. This is one appliance that I rather pay less and replace sooner than later (10 yrs or so?) as I believe the technology for fridges will be constantly changing. Right now this Samsung 36" Wide, 34 cu. ft. Capacity 4-Door Flex™ Chef Collection Refrigerator RF34H9950S4/AA 36"W is what I'm looking at due to its large capacity freezer space. It's still $$$ though but still below the SZ. I hope it doesn't blow up or catch fire though-lol. For the microwave I have had this Panasonic Genius Prestige Inverter Microwave NN-CD989S in a previous house and liked it so well I will have it again. I really like all its features-microwave, bake, broil, etc and I can BAKE a 9 X13 pan in it and I it will back a cake perfectly on the auto sense feature. Great if I need a 3rd oven or don't want to heat up one of the big ovens. Dishwasher I haven't made a decision yet. Just make sure that whatever you purchase that it is large enough for your needs. Just moved into a house recently and it has a Bosch. It washes beautifully, is quiet and to my surprise it dries great even though it doesn't have heated dry but it is way to small even though our household is only 2 people. So when you purchase, consider what you want to put in it and will it hold everything you expect it to. I hand wash all my pots and pans and if I didn't this Bosch would never hold them and dishware at the same time. Our Bosch (2001) also has an odor problem which I've read may be due to wrong installation. I've had Kenmore Elite dishwashers in the past which I've been very happy with. As you can see, you are not going to get one easy answer here. I'd start by what is the most important feature to you (for me it is capacity) then find what brands offer it, then read, read and read more reviews. Style should be last unless you go out to dinner all the time and your kitchen is for show and not cooking. And you don't have to buy all the same brand as some people believe you do....See MoreM
