I'm no Arnie, but pulling open these two doors simultaneously doesn't feel that taxing.

I think its a great idea however I would probably reinforce the two doors together so that its an easy pull from either the front or back.

The handles don't look bad, but it would certainly be more convenient to see/access more storage. You’ll need brackets to join them.

@Maureen is that your home? That is beautiful! Could you tell me how long those handles are? They look perfectly proportional.

Picture is from Pinterest and my guess is about 6 inches. Try bringing home a few sizes and test them out and just return the ones that don’t feel right.

I think aesthetically I'd rather the handle not bridge the two doors. I think you could still pin the doors together, but have the pulls be on one door or the other, probably the top of the lower, but maybe the bottom of the upper ... I'd tape it out with painter's tape to test.

I can guarantee the handle on the doors in Maureen’s pic are 10” or so. Think of appliance handles and the size you’d put on a fridge door, and now consider how much taller your pantry doors are. Scale is very important to it looking balanced, although functionally if the doors aren’t heavy a smaller size would work.

It should be doable without too much fuss. As others have said you would need to secure the doors together. you really shouldn't even have to remove the existing hinges. Placing the handle where you are will, of course, make it easy to open the combined doors at one time.

How do you secure the doors together?

If they're not mounted, it could be done with a pin/dowel/screw. If they are on the cabinets, it could be done with a bracket on the inside.

I think it’s going to look super weird. It’s different from Maureen’s photo. In her photo the handle is not bridging what is clearly the top of one door and the bottom of another.

I think you are on to something. That's too many little openings the way it is. Connect them so they don't move around and put bigger pulls on them. Bigger than in the picture you posted.
