I love your choices too, but what really makes the composition is the contrast between the grays/whites and the dark wood floor. I'd use the same floor in the kitchen as in the rest of the house. And agree to use Chantilly Lace for the cabinets to avoid the dreaded "what white goes with...." question.

You’d up the gloss on cabinet paint so you can keep the Chan lace wall shade for cabs if you love it ( you want to almost love the cab color it’s expensive and will remain) but I’d go one shade darker for a subtle shift. For an apt I’d keep all cab colors the same . The floor is enough to take in. ... it is a good looking floor and a single detail like that can really be nice in small space... but not numerous pops of detail.... re: hardware ( you sure? ) ... perhaps clue in the commenting folks abt the layout and actual cabs to receive the paint job?

If you can't change the kitchen floor, then consider using a dark wood for the island instead of the gray.

Thanks so much for all the comments! Will def proceed with chantilly lace cabinets then. The reason the floor is different is because we were told by our contractor to use porcelain or tile and not to use hardwood in the kitchen incase there is a leak or something... does that advice make sense?

We were thinking about doing a slim shaker cabinet like this. @herbflavor it is a small kitchen - approx 10x11’.

Hoping you have base drawers. And thus think about the drawer profile : slab style ? A nice clean look w full overlay and then the narrow profile for the upper/ wall cab recessed doors . You usually have some options w drawer fronts.

@herbflavor, you are correct, we were thinking slab style drawer fronts with a slim shaker like I posted earlier. The apartment is a NYC apartment, so we are trying to maximize the space.

The kitchen is an L shaped kitchen, we have an island in the center (5' 7" x 4'10"), there is a structural triangular pillar that goes through the island (I'm attaching the schematic below), so the island would wrap around it. Would love to get your thoughts on the layout and if anything needs to be tweaked. Thanks so much!

@Diana Bier Interiors, LLC - we were thinking of using a different floor because everyone tells us not to use engineered hardwood (that is in the rest of the house) in the kitchen. What are your thoughts on that?

Of all the flooring I've had in kitchens, hardwood is my favorite by far. Tile is hard on your back when you stand on it for any length of time, laminate is just awful, vinyl is well vinyl.

Wood stands up well to wear, it's warm literally and figuratively, and it can be refinished. Also more forgiving than tile if you drop something on it. Also very easy to clean--I use Bona spray, cleans up great and dries almost instantly.

I have engineered hardwood in my kitchen, 4 kids and a large dog. I had solid wood in the previous kitchen for 15 years without refinishing. Continue the same flooring and get an alarm under your sink and the fridge if it gives you peace of mind.

Wow, that preverco red oak cappuccino flooring is gorgeous! I would definitely continue that into the kitchen. As lucky998877 said, she's had no problem with it!

@Diana Bier Interiors, LLC Thanks so much! We got lucky with the previous owners choices :). So if we do decide to stick to the preverco red oak cappuccino flooring, should we then do the lower island cabinets as gray or should we stick to keeping them all one tone (Chantilly lace).

@jatinahuja, I think the lower island cabinets in the Stormy gray would go very nicely with the Chantilly lace uppers, the counter tops and the brushed brass hardware. The dark wood floors then provide a beautiful warm contrast!

I would recommend you treat the island finishes separately than the other kitchen cabinets ( to set it off) which color where will depend on the amount of natural light coming into the space . ( more light - you could use the darker color on the island and use a medium color stone on the top ) to avoid the high contrast of using the dark stain on the island - and use the Chantilly lace on the perimeter base and wall cabinets - a brushed lt. bronze might be preferable to the brass hardware ( on all cabinets) I would also consider using a different finish on the floor - if tile underfoot ( temp or hard surface on feet ) You could really step out of the box and use cork tile which is soft to step on and warm underfoot and waterproof ) - many looks available - drawback not high heel friendly - my clients really like this under utilized floor finish ,
