im not sure i would waste such a small space.. and such a minimal potential crop ... imo.. you could get a lot more food out of other smaller potential crops ...

anyway ... if you insist ... just jam them in there.. and see what happens ...

one of the reasons you see so many roadside corn stands in season .. is because you need hundreds of acres to get enough to sell .... and not many peeps invest in planting such in there small suburban backyards ...

I wouldn't try to squeeze in more than 4 rows of 11 plants each. 3 rows would be better and the plants might have a better chance of producing 2 decent ears each. Either way it will need plenty of water and nitrogen to get a good harvest.

I don't bother planting corn anymore in my garden either. It is just a deer and raccoon magnet that I don't need.

There may be some varieties and circumstances where 2 decent ears are produced on a stalk, but it doesn't happen much on my sweet corn.

And be prepared to do some serious hand pollination of your corn. Four rows is not enough to leave it to the wind. If you haven't done it already, please read on it first because timing is very important and you will have a small window (a few days) to do it. So if you're very busy or away from home and miss it, no cobs will form.

My corn raised beds are 3' x 8'. I grow 32 ears of corn in that space. 4 rows of 8 plants. You do have to hand pollinate because when the pollen drops it cannot reach the silks on the cobs because the leaves are so packed in it ends up landing on the leaves. I grow Silver Queen corn. They can get huge so maybe a smaller variety would be better. I only get one good ear from each plant. Yes it does take a lot of water and nitrogen to get a decent crop.
