B is quite busy and bossy. I don’t think the color of A works. I think C may be workable, but I’m not confident you’re there yet.

Yes agree with everything you both said. I have had about 10 different samples here and keep getting no where. When I search online all I see is light oak and I’m not a fan of that.

With the neutrals in other rooms( is that decor? ) you can I think go a little more ash toned. Not all out gray floor but move that way . It might work better in kitchen and not be incompatible in other areas. floor is backdrop / the other thing : is there a natural zone change when kitchen begins. Lvp in a stone look w complete differentiation from other areas might be workable.

My walls are beige or off white in other rooms. Sofa and chair is chocolate brown. Shelving unit is chocolate brown. As you can see I like browns! For the stone to wood look.... I was hoping for one type of flooring just because I like the look of that but also when you walk in my house you would walk into the wood look lvp but ahead of you see the kitchen floor. So there’s that. When you said the samples have yellow undertones.... can you suggest floors/colors that do not?

I’ve been looking at Mannington LVP and using them as a starting point because I like their product. I have looked at every single color variation and here I am. Haha

Using the Lowes link above I think this light Blonde Ale could work.It;s yellow I suppose but I think it has good contrast with the cherry. Just trying to suggest these tones, as I know nothing about the specifics.

RE: selections. i use CARPET ONE . I don't know if you have one of their retail stores nearby. last I was in browsing [maybe a yr ago] she said they carry one brand of LVP as there is so much avail...Just checked: its called INVINCIBLE with three levels . I don't know what sq footage you have and thus what pricepoint you need to be at. but for example: The FRIENDLY SHORES piece in WHISPER or GROVE color is how I would shift away from where you've been w color thus far. Have a look....various striations/ patterns...five web pages and each option comes in various color [there's a good looking wood look vinyl in herringbone!] ....I like CARPET ONE. I've had such good look w product selections/their knowledge and of course installation and service and warranty. [don't mean to be a commercial]

None of the ones you show IMO. Maybe paint the cabinets IMO cherry are dated and those even more so with the style . I think letting this cabinet color drive all the flooring is not a good idea. I do agree something more gray undertoned is your best bet in the kitchen but not with all the rest of the house so I think either a different floor in the kitchen or paint the cabinets .

Haha!! All things brown and soft and cozy! This is so hard!! I know that I have to go down that route of light oak as that is what I keep seeing and hearing but I really don’t like the lights. Ugh!!!

ooh sorry I did not see that you posted earlier that you don't care for the lighter oak ( like I suggested). I really don't know then....there are some super dark floors that could work, but (duh) that would be a very dark kitchen AND people with the super dark floors say they are not fun to live with in that they show every bit of dust and dirt.

Remember: if you have ANY THOUGHTS (even 10% of your renovation thoughts) move towards doing SOMETHING to change the colour of the cabinets, you need to wait for flooring.

Yah. I said wait. Why? Because you will be spitting mad when you find out your 'cabinet + floor' choice today has painted you into a design-dilemma corner tomorrow.

Imagine this: you find the PERFECT match to the cabinets. It has glowing pink/purple colours in it (Brazilian Cherry aka Jatoba has PERFECT colours for your cabinets...but I would NOT go that route)! Wow! You think. I've GOT to have it. Absolutely have to have that floor for the kitchen. And now I can run it through out the house.

Oh...wait...purple and chocolate don't work (as you have found out over and over again with your samples)! Darn. Now I need area rugs! And slip covers! Darn it.

Sigh...I REALLY don't want those cabinets any more! That's it! We are spending $7K and getting them painted! And well spend another $5K getting new counters! Wow. They will look great!

And ^^^^ that is what you want to avoid. It gets STUPID expensive to put in the colour that is a great match to cabinets that MIGHT NOT be there in 5-7 years!!!! 'Cause now it all needs to be done AGAIN!

I know you want a change. I get it. But you need to sit down with a 7 year renovation plan (yes...if you have 10% thoughts of changing the kitchen you need to get a plan going).

Personally, if I HAD to have a floor to go with your purple/cherry cabinets, I would work with CRISP WHITE tile floors. Or crisp white vinyl in a stone/tile look. Then I would change the counters to match the white floors.

That allows you to have whatever floor you want in the living space. And IF you believe you will change the kitchen in the next 10 years, make sure you purchase enough to finish the KITCHEN in the new vinyl flooring (the wood look) plus 10% extra. That way you have enough flooring to have ALL the same floors once you get your kitchen update!

Done and done. But you need to have a PLAN so that you can plan AHEAD.

Of the current choices C, it looks like you intentionally contrasted with the cabinets and the grain is not so busy (A and B are REALLY busy!!!) My hardwoods are similar to C and I have lots of wood toned furniture with it (though nothing quite as red as your cabinets...)

SJ McCarthy you are sooo correct. Something just wasn’t sitting right with me so looking into two different avenues— one is to stick with vinyl but look at the light blonde colors that will contrast nicely with the cherry and also go with my other rooms. The other is to look at vinyl tile for the kitchen in a light color again and then do the “wood” vinyl in my other rooms. As I have that break in rooms now between linoleum and carpet.

Im in same situation. i have black granite counters too. would love to know her final choice. i like lifeproof dusk cherry best. its either that or replacing granite w white and putting in white tile floor.

The flooring in the photo that craftir has given you seems to work fairly well. However, would you consider a thin brick veneer? That should be a good compliment for your cherry cabinets.
