Need help selecting curtains

My husband and I just painted our bedroom yellow with white trim. We found two curtain options we really like. But we're torn as to which one to choose-- the yellow/white, which blends with the paint--or the grey/white, which would tie in our light grey carpeting and become an accent color (bedside lamps, art, etc). There are three windows in the room.

I bought simple white hardware to hang the curtains. (They're hanging from nails in the pictures just to show the colors.)

The pictures still show the room in disarray after painting, but you can get a feel for the space. We're going to buy a white duvet cover, and we're considering sheets that have some grey in them (including a fitted sheet to cover the box sprints--two options are included in one picture).

So which curtain should we go with? And do you have any other ideas for how to bring this space together?

Thanks!

I would go with the gray.

How about a touch of blue with white? that would perk up the place even more .goes soothingly with both yellow and grey. What say ?

Yes, great point about the blue. We thought about it but decided against it since we'll have four colors already at play in the room (yellow, white, grey, brown). I don't think my very amateur design abilities can handle more than that! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, though! Any other suggestions?

I'd love more input in which curtains to choose-- the yellow or grey. I'll entertain the idea of adding blue as an additional accent, but that doesn't help me choose the curtains! Help please!!!

I like traditional and really interesting, beautiful fabric. These drapes I had made with a bedskirt of the same fabric. A cushion for the blanket chest with a tiny print piped with the same fabric. The dog sleeps on that so I had elastic bands added and it keeps the cushion from slipping off each time the dog jumps down.

btw - I got rid of the "pillows" look... one day I looked at the bed and just stopped liking the accent pillows and they always got thrown off the bed at night and put back on and really never served a purpose. I'm a bit more into " form and function". "Does this serve a function for me?" "Is this on here for a reason?" Now I've got about 20 throw pillows I don't know what to do with!! I even took them off the sofa.. if I want to stretch out and watch TV, I snatch a real bedroom pillow. You can get some really lovely old antique cotton pillow cases with an embroidered design and let those show as opposed to shams. The sheers were a must because of the neighbors but the drapes easily pulled shut and with lining they darkened the room very well...

If those are your 2 choices then Grey and find some accents for the room.

Good drapes are in investment, so take your time and maybe do a little cheating. ( buy some cheap twin flat sheet at Big Lots... gray-blue-yellow-? ( photo them after you've VERY gently draped/hung them )... fold them neatly and then return them and say they were the wrong color. KIDDING!!!

I like big rods and hung high on the wall. Have you considered a valance of some sort? A simple box can be made and covered with a contrasting fabric and give the windows more height.

I like the idea of grey curtains love yellow and grey can always add some charcoal as well. make sure the curtain rod is wider than the window and fix it a bit higher it will make the window look larger. White duvet cover will be lovely another idea is a slate grey duvet. Would use white sheets they always look clean and crisp other than a colour. then you can add shades of yellow/lemon, grey, charcoal, and white cushions and and an accent colour if you want but dont need to add any brown colour just keep that colour in any furniture you wish to use in the room. I will be a lovely room.

I guess I am the only one.......lol I like the yellow curtains. So hard to tell by just a picture for me though. I do agree that grey is nice though too and I like the blue touch most of all.

If you can afford original art - some nice line drawings or pencil sketches would be interesting. Otherwise art.com has reproductions of Picasso's work that would be cheerful. I'm thinking of his Dove of Peace with flowers or petite fleurs. Subdued is fine for a bedroom.

Thanks SO much for all of your advice! The grey curtains were the winner, but the stronger message seemed to be to find a different curtain in an accent color. So I took the hint and found a new blue curtain to try! Thanks, again. I would never have thought of that.
